Obviously, there's something off about Picard's original genetic structure, something he's passed on to Jack. Vadic suggested that Picard's diagnosis of Irumodic Syndrome was actually something else... so, what might that be?

I doubt the writers would shoehorn in some random incident from before TNG or after Nemesis that the audience has no knowledge of. What does that leave? I don't recall Picard ever having his genome fiddled with by anyone, unless it's going to be something silly like prolonged exposure to someone from the Q-continuum warping human genetic material.

What could Picard have passed on to Jack that makes him telepathic?
He's a human/Borg/Vulcan hybrid

9/10

Almost an 8, but...Tuvok! Kinda. It really isn't looking good for Tuvok or Admiral Janeway it seems. How many frickin' Changelings are there in Starfleet? Sheesh. It also appears they think Titan's destruction or capture is a foregone conclusion to openly admit they captured Tuvok and to screw with Picard and torture him with a dead Riker over subspace.

As for the rest of the episode it was ok. Some needed background on Vadic. A bit more Jack mystery. Lore taking over the ship seems a bit of a contrivance but kind of par for the course with past weak Starfleet computer security. The trap sprung on Vadic was pretty obvious but she always seemed to have an ace up her sleeve. Lore is likely more involved than we know of so far. I'm guessing the rest of Vadic's troops beamed in at the end? The plot armor on her second in command was especially thick this week. Sydney too. The hint that Picard's Irumodic syndrome is not what it appears is intriguing. The capture of Titan...kinda meh.

Tim Russ has played a lot of characters on Star Trek.

Tuvok, of course.
Human criminal in TNG episode Starship Mine.
Human Starfleet ensign in Star Trek Generations.
Klingon on Deep Space Nine
Mirror Tuvok on Deep Space Nine
Changeling Tuvok on Picard

Not quite Vaughn Armstrong or Jeffrey Combs, but impressive nevertheless.

I wish they would just get to the point with Jack. Hate this mystery box stuff it never lives up
Some people complain about "mystery box" writing, but I find that these serialized seasons try to be like novels where things take time to develop and be resolved. Mysteries set up near the beginning might not be resolved until the end. It's almost like that that's the point. ;) And there's great potential with this format.

Of course, there are good novels and not so good novels. And good serialized seasons and not so good. Unfortunately, ST hasn't been so good with serialized seasons lately. But that's a writing problem rather than a format problem. They might consider hiring some of the better Trek novelists!

That all said, I've been thoroughly enjoying this season of Picard. It has used the serialized format very effectively overall. True, this specific episode was mediocre, but it's the exception so far. I'm still looking forward to how it all wraps up!

I gave it a 9. A step up from the callback extravaganza from last week. The mystery of what/who Jack deepens . We learn Vadic's past. Nice scene between Data and Geordi. And Tuvok! For some reason the callbacks to Voyager are working for me.

Thus far, nothing feels rushed.
Overall, for this season, I'd agree. But I noted some rushing starting in Bounty and now in Dominion.

Bounty needed to give some extra time to a few early scenes so they could breathe. When the group was reuniting particularly. But other scenes in that episode had the time to breathe and were excellent, such as the scene with Seven and Jack. The heist was also rushed, giving it low urgency. Not very heisty. A bit of a mixed bag but overall pretty good.

However, in Dominion, it felt like whole scenes were cut out. The plan preparation. What was going on with the other supposedly disabled vessel and its message. Was that all faked somehow? How did Picard and Co. let only Vadic know where they were so no one else got their first? The entire Starfleet was looking for them after all. Etc. Sure, you can fill in the gaps, but it felt like we skipped a whole bunch of stuff. And then the takeover seemed to be all of a sudden too. To me, Dominion we saw felt like an early draft of the episode. They got some parts down ok but really needed to flesh some other parts out.

Since I'm that person's target, here are my hopefully last comments about this.

you didn't post it "around the time the episodes drop" You posted it nearly a full goddamn hour before they're supposed to.
they've never dropped that early
Again...had the episode dropped at the normal time, you'd be 100% right. But the key point here is that it came out earlier than any episode ever has and that should have been taken into account.
Episodes had been going up at midnight PST. Then the last few had gone up around 11:30. Not once had they gone up around 11:00.
Fact: Many episodes have been released around 11:05, 11:07, 11:10, some around 11:30, and some as late as 11:50, but the vast majority of CBSAA/P+ streaming episodes were released between 11:00 and midnight Pacific Time going all the way back to when Disco was moved from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday night. Therefore, following your post here, we are 100% right, because it was the normal time, and certainly not earlier than any ever. You not knowing this despite it happening weekly for years is entirely your problem.

If the episode had already aired then yeah, it'd be silly to come in here not expecting to be spoiled. But as far as many knew it wasn't even out yet. Who would expect to see a giant fucking screengrab of an episode that they didn't think was even out yet?
For 6 episodes before this I have come into these threads to check out pre-episode discussions and not ONCE have I seen any spoilers I couldn't avoid.
Fact: I have posted pictures of everything I found noteworthy as soon as the episodes are out for years, including those last 6 episodes. The time when you open a thread is entirely your choice. If you opened all the previous threads for the past 80+ episodes later, and now opened this one 'too early', no one else is to blame.

It wouldn't have as big of a deal but your attitude about it is really fucking irritating.

I also feel the Titan was not really captured, but false captured. I think Picard has set a very elaborate trap where he fully intended to have Vadic capture the ship.
I hope that happens because it would redeem some bad choices, both writing and character wise! I do wonder if Worf and Raffi returning will save the day.

Hello all. My first post on this forum; my first post concerning Star Trek in general, and it's only happening because I'm a middle aged fella who turned his back on Star Trek after the first season of Picard (I wasn't emotionally engaged in any of the new stuff before that to be fair) but had heard that this season was something special, something that harkens back to Trek of old. It's so disappointing. My head hurts right now thinking about the plot contrivances, the lack of intelligence from the crew and the scriptwriters. When you have to fill in the gaps for a script you're in trouble, and it happens constantly on this forum. It's poor, it really is. And I'm sad about it. No agenda here, but seriously, we're 7 episodes in and what's happened? And that's only the start of the problems. Really really poor.

So many examples. Perfect one is last episode. We have Picard and himself in the ready room, and Picard says we may have the answer to trap her or whatever, and then an awful cut... absolutely hideous. No explanation of the Vulcan ship or why they found the Titan. And then they go over in a shuttlecraft. And then they confront Jack and herself. Do I need to go on? It's awful scriptwriting

That didn't answer the question at all.

Of course I'm filling in gaps. The story ain't done yet.
