Or who is half brother is, I mean somebody in season 1 or 2 had a mind meld with Spock and knew about Michael. Maybe Spock learned from his mistakes and shields that part of himself now?

I mean, McCoy carries Spock's katra in his own body for a while and even in TVH, TFF and TUC he still seems like there's a lot about Spock he still doesn't know and understand (Sybok's existence, for one), so a meld might not impart as much information transfer as one assumes.

Clearly there are different levels to mind melds, else Spock wouldn't have had to do what he did to Valeris to get information out of her.
