I think this has been the Achilles heel for a lot of nu trek. Big big build up with anti climatic/meh reveal spat out in final episode.
And I would absolutely agree with you. The worst offender being Disco with The Burn. The concept itself wasn't bad, and if we'd had a single episode about some kind of smaller disaster with the same resolution for the cause I might have even loved it. But as the resolution to their big, season defining and Federation crippling mystery? Yeah, they dropped the ball there in a HUGE way.
I'm just getting worried that the only episodes of this season that I've really enjoyed were the first (Picard and Riker road trip is hard to screw up) and the Frakes directed episodes. I'm starting to feel like Frakes just elevated material that wasn't worth the time and the whole season begins to feel like it's unraveling into incoherence.
Also, because I've seen this brought up a bunch: if Jack is anything other than what we've been told (Beverly and Picard's naturally conceived child) then I quit. Undermining your own narrative by being that dishonest with your audience and then milking all the false drama between Jack, JL and Bev would be the absolute last straw for me. This would go down as far and away the worst season of Trek in my estimation at that point. Obviously, individual mileage may vary.
