I think it would be perfectly in character for the Romulans to think that while Vadic's changelings focus on destroying the Federation (and we might be taking about something that Oh had been aware of for decades), they figure out how to neutralize changelings so that by the time they come for them, they'll be prepared. And the demise of the Federation is the endgame for the Romulans too anyway, Vadic is doing them a favor by doing the dirty work for them. They might think all they need to do is avoid a repeat of the Lovok fiasco and they could come swooping in, taking all the scraps for themselves and establishing themselves as the premier political power in the Alpha Quadrant.

Another very strong episode that evoked mixed feelings to me, mostly because I didn’t expect the Federation (section 31) doing horrible experiments such as the ones depicted. Going with an 8.

I’m now fully satisfied on the new appearance of the liquid changelings and on Vadic’s, I’m still puzzled on why her “brothers” use those odd forms and don’t usually speak English, especially as this episode shows they actually can.

after the conversation in this episode, I’m starting to think that the big boss is no changeling at all and is in fact

the Borg queen!

It was a nice surprise seeing Tim Russ and also the Datalore part was great, for a moment I thought Shaw was going to die, glad he didn’t.

I never thought they would kill off Sydney, but Jack taking control of her body (in a masterfully executed sequence) took me by surprise…who is he?!

the dilemma about killing Vadic was…Unsettling, to say the least. And giving me TUC vibes.

I’m confused on how they set up the trap with the Vulcan ship.

Can’t wait for next week.

This is just an ugly show to look at.

Got to say, didn't really like that one. It almost turned me completely off, on fact. A large part of it is (still) just the ugly, dark, look of it. What's the point of my 4K TV if I'm not going to use it? It can show color, right?

Another part is I'm not enjoying Plummer's performance and the story hasn't engaged me. I'm only watching because my TNG crew is together again and, you know what? It's not enough. Mostly because it's not really them.

This is just a sour, unpleasant, taste. It's NuTrek in all its glory. How did they make SNW work?

It seems to be you, not the show, because this has so far been the most highly related new series on this website and probably anywhere on the web.

It was great to see Tuvok (and hear Jerry's Voyager theme again briefly) but otherwise this episode left me cold. My favorite episodes of TNG didn't involve Crusher and Picard debating whether they should kill. The whole show was too dark—in themes and cinematography.

Picard: Lore look, you can keep messing with us but we'll keep fighting and it won't be as much fun for you as opposed to our plan. You help us out, and we'll give you Vadic and all the changelings to brutalize, no questions asked for as much as you want and as long as you want.

Lore: ... OK.

Lore restores control of the ship to Shaw, and Vadic and the changelings are beamed into a sealed room with Lore, where their subsequent screams prove that Section 31's violent experimentation was merciful by comparison.

Finding it's all getting a bit tedious. Just like the last 2 seasons I'm starting to feel like this could have all been done in a single movie.

I wish they would just get to the point with Jack. Hate this mystery box stuff it never lives up

Dark episode. Shaw still can't get his hero moment, thought he might of finally! Nice to see Tuvok, assuming he has been tortured/killed. Weakest of the season, which pretty much means its still better than most of S2. Felt the wheels have started to come off a little as they are falling into earlier seasons habits of pacing the story well at the start and then rushing it towards the end. Still a few episodes to be proved wrong however.

Felt the changeling story was telegraphed could see it a mile off, revenge for killing my species/family is the most common trek villian manifesto.

Liked that Lore was playing about with them. However...out of all the crew SIDNEY and JACK are the ones that are going toe-to-toe with the Jem V2's?? Where are the highly trained security officers? Didn't quite add up.

Felt like a scene was missing, where they may have been preparing the ship for the trap and planning for Vadics arrival. Have a feeling it was filmed but cut for time.

So jack is probably a
Human Borg Hybrid due to Picard having some borg bits still in him which he has passed on to him.
and The
Queen
wants him to be
Locutus 2.0
.

And STILL no DS9 characters making an appearance, running out of episodes! :(

My first “meh” of the season. Need to rewatch, but this is the first episode that just didn’t click with me. Gave it a 6.
