Did someone say...

Wash that cannon off before you use it. It's been violated many times.

It was? Could you be more specific?

The only mention I recall of Gorn in Into Darkness was McCoy making a remark about performing a C-section on a pregnant Gorn. That's it.

I do not recall any mention of the Gorn's place of origin in that film.
That was it. That happened in the video game.

I might watch Star Wars one day, I have never seen it… I wouldn’t know where to begin though as I hear that the universe is quite expansive and complicated!
Assuming you're serious, it's actually very short and simple. I would suggest you find the "despecialised" editions, so as to watch the original versions without the later "edits".

So at least watch the original trilogy: Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

No, seriously, do that.

I am always serious, unless I make it clear that I am joking. :D

I honestly have not seen Star Wars but I will definitely give it a shot one day, I just always felt like I would be a traitor to Star Trek when I was younger if I did watch it. I always thought of it a bit like supporting either Manchester United or Manchester City… you can’t support both. Though saying that, why can’t you like or support both? :p

I am familiar with Star Wars and the basic story line as pretty much everyone else on the planet is considering how much of an influence on pop culture the franchise is

My friends keep on accidentally buying me Star Wars presents for birthdays etc, confusing it with Star Trek. I have to smile politely.

I just accidentally got given the Lego Star Wars Scout Trooper model kit as a present off someone at work, I guess that I could build it whilst I’m waiting for new parts of my Eaglemoss Enterprise D model to arrive?

Actually, Trek and Wars complete each other rather well. Trek's got the more intellectual, philo-sciency approach, while Wars is deep into the space-fantasy, action kick-ass side.

Anyway, it's just three movies, and if you like them, you can keep going with the prequels, Rogue One, Solo, and the sequels... and then there are series to check out at your leisure. :)

I wouldn’t bother. The special editions are fine.
What I would do is watch them in chronological order as not as many people have done 1-6 that way and so you would get a unique perspective.

I disagree. That means watching movies made in the 2000s before those made in the 70s/80s, which can be jarring in more ways than one. Besides, watching the prequels is far from necessary.

As for the special editions, I just find their alterations silly and distracting. Better to watch the original form, where the various effects fit with one another.

Yeah, watching the Prequels before the Original Trilogy just does not work. The Originals are clearly the ones that introduce and explain everything, while the Prequels assume you're already familiar wit the world and its setting.

I actually like the 1997 edits and watched them on the big screen, but the further alterations in later DVD and Blu Ray releases became more excessive and unnecessary (and Harmy produced blurays for the 1997 edits that were confined to VHS alongside the relatively unaltered Trilogy).

I don’t agree with that at all. I think you could easily watch the prequels first. Some people must have done it back in the day.

I can live with almost all the DVD, Bluray and Disney+ changes to the Original Trilogy but three now stand out worse than any of the others: "Maclunkey," the painfully obvious CGI Dug walking down the steps of Jabba's Palace in the middle of the night and Vader's "NOOOOOO" when he saves Luke from the Emperor and returns to good. The first is just goofy as Hell, the second does absolutely nothing of value and stands out like a sore thumb and the third just ruins a decades-old beautiful sequence of a broken man's silent, internal struggle to do what's right.
