With how often he's doing it, that's probably a given.

"Lookie at me, I can prove that New Trek sucks..., with Math!"

Plus those numbers he showed are just for watching on cable. I watch on Crave since it's on there at like 5-6AM, it doesn't air on cable until 9PM.

... and I (as well as many others) stream it, so his numbers aren't even close to being actual 'eyes on' the Trek shows.

But the actual numbers would mess up his Chicken Little act.

The best social commentary and space action is ground with the hips.

I might watch Star Wars one day, I have never seen it… I wouldn’t know where to begin though as I hear that the universe is quite expansive and complicated! I wonder if I would like it or not? My friends sometimes accidentally get me Star Wars gifts because they think that I like it, they often confuse it with Star Trek.

Back to SNW, does anybody have the weekly Neilson viewing figures/ratings yet? :D

What tipped you over? I'm still not quite there yet. The third was good, probably the best, but I haven't been blown away yet.

As it stands I feel I prefer SNW to PIC, but I prefer DSC to SNW.

There really isn't that much Star Wars to watch, especially compared to Trek. Three movie trilogies, two stand-alone movies and a handful of small tv shows and cartoons. The only way I would consider it an 'expansive' universe is if you're counting all of the books and comics, too, and by that standard almost any franchise can be expansive.

If you're really interested you can just start with the movies in the order they were released. There's nothing complicated or hard to follow about it.

I also got SW toys and stuff and had to pretend to be happy instead of trying to explain :D

Just watch the first one from 77 or whenever it was, and if that's not bad for you, the next one (which is supposed to be amazing). If the 3rd one still keeps you going, watch the first of the prequel ones, and so forth :D

I think you'll do fine watching them in the order they came out. Something like:
    1. Original Trilogy
    2. Prequel Trilogy
    3. Clone Wars (3D)
    4. Rebels
    5. Sequel Trilogy/Rogue One/Solo
    6. The Mandalorian
    7. The Book of Boba Fett
Though it might help to have a watch list for Clone Wars to put the stories in the right order and let you know which ones are skippable.

Bringing the subject back to Strange New Worlds: I've seen three episodes now and it's alright. Not my favourite Trek, but it does feel like Trek.

Can I just say how absolutely in love I am with this show?

I thought I became a jaded old man, as I didn't like DIS or PIC, stopped watching both & were longing for the "good old days". I mean - this might still be true, considering how retro this show feels?

But I absolutely love it. TOS has always been my favourite - but it has noticeably aged with time - and this one feels like a modern, updated TOS. There are a lot of nuTrek-isms in it I don't like. But also many I do like, like the characters behaving more human-like, and everything a bit more adventurous and daring than the TNG (or ENT) era. And it's an absolute joy to watch any minute of this, even the stupid ones.

Funnily enough, for me too.... even though in a very different way:guffaw:
Because I thought "Ghosts of Illyria" was not a good episode. An unremarkable plot of the week, with very badly executed double "dark secret"-reveal.

But at the same time - if this is what a bad SNW episode is? Damn, I'm in. I was thoroughly entertained by many bits in it, it didn't feel like I was wasting my time (cough PIC S2 cough), and I freakin' love the casual conversations and pure style of it!

Now of course I'll have to see how the rest of the season shakes out. But right now? I feel like a kid watching Star Trek for the first time again.

There’s also Resistance, but I found that one to be painfully unwatchable.

Yeah, that was amazingly bad. I wasn't prepared for how terrible it was. Probably best to skip it.

I should've mentioned The Bad Batch though, which chronologically fits between Clone Wars and Rebels and is about the same level of quality. (They're all good).

I liked Resistance. I don't think it was bad, just not as mature as the others.

I think it's the only Star Wars cartoon to have a gay couple.

This is about where I am right now with how I think I'll be placing the series. Thanks a lot PIC Season 2! I'll just cut-and-paste what I said the other day.

    For the SNW in general:
For "Children of Illyria" in particular:
