Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Still not a fan of using the Gorn. They were supposed to debut in TOS, sort of takes away from that.
I’m sure it’ll be a fun episode.

Meh. ENT kinda screwed that pooch in Season 4 with Archer learning about them, and I'm not talking about Mirror Archer.

They were an unknown species whose territory the Federation accidentally encroached upon when they set up the Cestus III colony during the course of events in “Arena”. But shit, (NX-01) Enterprise ran into the Ferengi, the Gorn, the Romulans (who cloaked), holodecks and a bunch of other stuff that they shouldn’t have.

Fuck it… I like the Gorn and hope they go back to resembling the TOS version as opposed to the ENT version, if they even show them.

The ENT version can be explained as being the way they looked in the Mirror Universe but even in that scenario the 2005 television budget CGI did that Gorn few favors. That Gorn looked good at maybe two angles: above Mirror Archer in the shadows and prone on the corridor floor.

Here's the thing about Arena, Kirk personally doesn't know about the Gorn, he's on the planet and out of contact with the ship when he finds out their name. That doesn't mean the Federation doesn't know there is a power out there called the Gorn.

I'm curious if SNW will be able to thread the needle.
