Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

The difference between Star Wars and Star Trek is that in Star Wars you're fighting the man and in Star Trek you are the man.

I don't really think that's true at all. The message of Star Wars is for the most part that only "special" people have agency like those who are Force sensitive. Everyone else is just along for the ride, more or less.

In contrast, in Star Trek, everyone has free will and independent agency. Sure, the crews are mostly in the top 1% of aptitude, but they're fundamentally normal folks, not demigods, and we follow them in their workplace as they come up with cooperative solutions to vexing problems.

I think that's a message you can take away from it, but not one that was intended. After all, plenty of SW heroes have no Force powers. Arguably the most popular characters, in fact.

It's implicit in the core narrative.
It's implicit (i.e. interpreted) in the core narrative of Star Wars that non-Force users have no agency?

That some characters have greater "destinies" doesn't remove agency from the other characters.

The Bad Batch, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Solo and Rogue One are all about heroes with no Force powers.

And all happen to be better than the three most recent adventures with the main heroes possessing Force powers.

Yes, even the lowpoints of The Book of Boba Fett were better than TLJ or TROS. :p
Yeah...I find myself going back to the films over anything related to Mandalorian.

To each their own. And more appropriate to another thread. Feel free to comment in my rewatch thread. Just finished Mandalorian Season 2. On to Boba Fett to see if I can finish it.
