Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I would actually go with the "Shapes" of the ships as a better indicator in Star Wars.

The Empire mainly goes with sharp edges and angles while the Republic went with rounded and organic shapes.

It's a little less obvious in Trek due to the WARP designs seemingly having to have paired engines which are seen on just about all the starships.
In Trek's case "Colors" would appear to be the better indicator.
Grays & Whites for the Federation, Reds for the Vulcans and Greens for the Klingons & Romulans.
What's funny to me is that the new paint job for the SNW fits with the Prometheus aesthetic.

I have to give you this one. I was searching my brain looking for any example and I completely forgot the Ultimate Computer. Still, that was only a tiny fleet and larger fleets are always more mixed.
The comparison doesn't hold either way. The limitations of the FX tech of the day forced them to go the route that they did. Building just ONE shooting model took many weeks and was hideously expensive.

Rendering takes time and is expensive too.

There are still limitations no matter how much fans don't want to believe it to be so.

Apologies if this has been addressed already, but I'm not going through the whole 400 pages of this thread.

Question: why is the helmsman/pilot wearing a red shirt?

They ran out of time...they ran out of money...they ran out of ideas...they're very well resourced paupers.

I love how bright and colourful the promotional pictures and art is. One of the things I adore about TOS is the COLOUR!! I’m really hoping we see some of that on SNW.
YES! (I can't say 'absolutely right' because it's apparently trademarked)

Of all the Trek sequels and spin-offs, this one really captures the look and feel of the original.

Now we only have to hope that the stories match the visual tone.

Part time character.
Again, he appears in the main poster, has his own poster, has his own trailer. It's odd to justify his not having his own picture because he's a recurring character. Wasn't M'Benga or another character also recurring? If so, they also have their own picture there. He's part of the cast, and looking awesome, I want to see more!

According to wikipedia everyone except Hemmer is main.

Based on the promos I can only assume he's also main but appearing more sporadically; otherwise there'd be no need to give him a trailer and all. Still, high-res pictures would've been nice.
