Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Might just be easier to put her in Picard's time. Share all the props and uniforms. Also Picard has at best 2 more seasons left and I think they are going to keep playing in that setting for awhile.
Picard is filmed in another country on the other side of the continent

They will likely need some of those uniforms and props for the Georgiou Section 31 show. Provided she returns to that time period. Which who knows if that will be the case.
Probably not. They will want to size things for their cast and storage is expensive.

I opine that the main cast uniforms for SNW will strongly resemble those of the ENT-DSC, but custom made rather than dying the DSC unis with TOS colors. So the costumes will be different, but not that different. (think better tailoring, less Delta, especially after this months news; keep the color and the division stripes)

The collars worn by the science crew in "The Trouble With Edward(SHO)" are a hundred times better than the asymmetrical tab. They're actual symmetrical and smooth collars that are the same color as the Baby Blue science uniforms.

That’s what the DSC uniforms look like when they take off the collar.

The uniforms worn under the security armour/Terran empire armour are the same style.

They were custom made in Season 2. There’s some texture difference between the two. Plus the shoulder braids aren’t metallic.

Yes it is. Shouldn't be too hard to share props and uniforms across the continent. It's not like they have to deal with the Pony Express or anything.
In theory yes. But imagine there are more problems than just sticking it in a box and giving it to the FedEx driver.

They talk about how they're tailored to perfectly fit the actors. It's been two years since they were last used and so the actors have probably lost or gained some weight and the old ones won't fit as well as they used to. We also see in the video that some have some noticeable wear and tear. So I wouldn't read much into the fact that they're being sold.

It's possible that the uniforms will be different. I know costume designers, they love to change things. But the auction isn't proof that they'll be different.

BTW, don't read the comments on that video. Everyone's outraged at the fact that a Youtube channel dared to cover modern Star Trek in a positive light.

IIRC, shipping the Black Lightning costume from Atlanta to Vancouver for the Crisis crossover had the folks on BL fraught with worry.
It's a lot easier to share when you're on the same lot like it was in the Berman Era with multiple shows and films drawing from same the resources.

What's described there is no different than in the 80s and 90s.

I never noticed the red shirts have red rank stripes...

The logistics of that would be enough for anyone to have anxiety attacks. Coordinating schedules, counting on them showing up, and hoping they do. All that time and effort when making them in house would probably be more effective.

Among the things going up for auction recently are the uniforms from S2 of Discovery, including Pike's. I'm not surprised the stars are getting new uniforms for SNW, but if they were going to keep the same design, I'd have thought they'd keep the actors' previous uniforms around for extras or other guests to use. They did this routinely in the TNG era, to the point that Garrett Wang was literally using Brent Spiner's boots (source - Garret's Voyager podcast). Does this mean SNW will have another uniform design?

The Discoprise uniforms were made as a bridge between Discovery and TOS. I presume the SNW uniforms will be a further bridge between the Discoprise and TOS. Probably getting rid of the collar, maybe some of the other highlights (shoulder piping?) which are unnecessary in this era.

And there's probably going to be a joke in the first episode about Starfleet constantly changing uniforms. It'll be the sixth new uniform design out of six seasons of modern Trek. Lower Decks Season 2 *appears* to be the first Trek season without its own uniform design or variant, but that's judging by trailers. No idea what we have in store with Picard Season 2 (replacing the ill-fitting costumes seems plausible) or Prodigy (should use the Lower Decks or Picard flashback unis, but will probably introduce yet another design).
