EAS is predicably underwhelmed. Calling a show a complete failure doesn't make much sense when it's getting this spin off.
That's probably what's not going to happen. That camp, in general, hates what DSC and PIC have done and sees SNW as something they wanted CBSAA to do all along. If The Orville doesn't have a fourth season, they'll make SNW their new home. They're trying to tell those fans "Come home!" I'd much prefer if they wouldn't, but it is what it is. Reducing it to strictly numbers, broadening the tent makes sense. It's really be SNW vs. The Orville, since they're doing the same planet-of-the-week thing.

Rose Colored Glasses keep on selling. That is some serious chimp-out shit flinging by man afraid of change. TOS isn't suddenly going to phase out of reality because of a Pike Series.
Also I have to wonder if Bernd has actually watched and classic Star Trek recently with his comments regarding Starfleet. Over the multiple series, Starfleet has often been shown to a less than honorable organisation and it was our heroes that set it right. Like who the fudge does he think put a stop to the plan to genocide the Klingons? It was Starfleet officers.
Situation Normal, then. All the right people hate it.I'm not so sure about this. I mean a lot of these fans have a MASSIVE hate for the ones who run Star Trek at the moment. Somehow I can't see them happily returning to "Kurtzman-Trek". To me it seems far more likely that they'll trash SNW in the same way they've been trashing DSC and PIC. I'm a member of a German sci-fi board where the overwhelming majority of people absolutely loathe DSC and PIC (and make it known at every possible moment) and the announcement of the Pike series created only one reaction over two pages: "Oh no, not again, they're going to ruin this show, too, this will be the same disappointment as DSC and PIC were, it's the same people in charge, don't trust them, this is going to be bad".
It seems the Noah Hawley Star Trek movie won't be another Kelvin universe movie and none of the actors are scheduled to return to their roles. You know what will probably suffer because of this are the Kelvin movies.I can't see the studio wanting to have two Enterprises, two Spocks set around the same time but not part of each other's continuity competing against each other and/or confusing casual fans and viewers. The movies will probably go in a different direction now with a new cast of characters.
I love Pine as Kirk but it would be nice to see the Kelvin Films continue on with a new crew and do something a little new.The movies will probably go in a different direction now with a new cast of characters.
Which?I'm a member of a German sci-fi board where the overwhelming majority of people absolutely loathe DSC and PIC
Which?
...and nice as a person.
I don't much give a shit if he's a good person, I just want a good actor that is written well.
