Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I just re-watched the first four episodes for the first time since they originally dropped, and I must say that this might be the most high-quality string of consecutive episodes in the history of the franchise.

The stories, sci-if elements, character moments, pacing, visuals, comedy, tension, action, music, performance ….it’s absolutely phenomenal. What a way to kick off a new series.

It's the best first season of any Trek series since TOS. It just cranks out one great episode after the next.

Agree, although “Serene Squall” is like the strange, lonely pile of rat shit in this otherwise great season, and even that is somewhat saved by the performances.

The Gorn episode is the weak link in Season 1. But Hemmer, Chapel and the others save it from being a total misfire.

There were two Gorn episodes in the season. I assume you mean the 2nd Gorn episode that had Hemmer's death?
That was the one I was thinking of when I made the post. Overall, I do not like the Gorn as a species and find their inclusion annoying. The episode with Hemmer's death was kind of just more evidence of poor use.

The episode was Hemmer's death was really the only misstep I saw in the show. I wish there was a way that episode never happened and Hemmer would come back.

Brilliant? Eh? His character was barely developed and his death was super tropey. Brilliant is not how I would define it. And I loved the overwhelming majority of season 1.

I don't think anyone on the show likes them either.
