I wasn’t keen on overwriting Chapel, because there’s no need for her to be in the show if they wanted a different character.

I assume the writers are keen to have a character on hand whom we, or at least the audience of TOS, know will eventually develop an unrequited love for Spock.

Lieutenant Galloway. The man so strong even a phaser set to kill and vaporize its target can't keep him from coming back.

David Lee Ross also played Johnson in a different episode. Perhaps the only error is that they call him Galloway in the end credits of the final episode? He is not identified by name in the episode.

And in the penultimate episode, after several episodes with Eartha Kitt, Catwoman went back to being Julie Newmar's stuntwoman, Marilyn Watson.

No, not the actors. NuRobert April is fine.

The goddamn starships! They are supposed to be white! Egg-shell white for the classic Connor. In nuTrek all ships look black. That's just... wrong.

"Canon" doesn't work that way. This doesn't take TAS out of official continuity any more than Robin Curtis's casting as Saavik decanonized TWOK.

I mean that show is hella' goofy. Also has personal force fields and all other kinds of wacky tech & adventures.

IMO this is more like an adaptation. Like turning a book character black.

It's not like they are turning him into an alien (cough ...Colt... cough). Had they turned Spock or Pike black - it would have been a reboot for me. April? More of a nit-pick. Not half as egregious as Nic Locarno/Tom Paris für example. YMMV of course.

Not at all. As the producers pointed out, they found it not worthwhile to try to redeem a character like Locarno who'd done the sort of thing he'd done. Entirely reasonable call.

Even if what you said was not wrong, it still wouldn't merit "egregious."

Seriously, did love the callback to that in Lower Decks.

CBS brought it into full canon in the mid 2000s as part of the marketing gif the DVD release.

Well, if we are being nitpicky Colt wasn't called Colt The Cage or Discovery. So that's a non-issue.

Just call him Admiral Steve and move on. Or if they needed a Poc use already established ones like Admiral Nogura or Stone or Mendez.. Bring over Tyler Perry as Admiral Barnett from JJ verse.
