I don't mind action in any Trek show or movie . . . as long as it's not overdone or that it overshadows the drama. My problem with the Season 2 premiere wasn't the action. My problem was the awkward tonal shift and the presence of one Christopher Pike. I would not have minded if he and Spock were merely recurring characters. But I don't see the need for him as regular on this show, considering that his character is the commanding officer of another ship.
