Spoilers The Acolyte

And remind me again how you’re supposed to parcel out revenue on a subscription service? If show A gets more viewing hours from people who are already subscribed because it has broad appeal, but no one would like it enough to subscribe just for it (or to unsubscribe if it was cancelled), it could be a worse investment than show B, which is less popular numerically, but all its fans are die-hards who will subscribe and unsubscribe based purely on whether it’s there.

Those are obviously extremes, but they illustrate why taking interest and enthusiasm into account would be important to determining strategy.

Thanks, we could all use a good belly laugh on a Tuesday. :rommie:

From the article the video cites, courtesy of clickbait farm Screen Rant: "New data from Parrot Analytics (via THR) suggest Lucasfilm may have been too hasty, however. Rather than looking purely at viewership, Parrot measure 'demand' by combining that data with things like social media conversation, wikis, and search activity."

Disney Execs: "Subscription-based revenue? Who needs that, when we can spend hundreds of millions of dollars and get social media action, much of which is mocking and negative?!"

Again, funny stuff. :p
Well that was predictable, certainly more so than The Acolyte picking up viewership after the fact. Nothing to actually add to any conversation except insulting snark. And yet again you prove to me that you are the last person in all the galaxies far far away whose opinion on Star Wars means anything to me. Nothing that Lucasfilm does on any project will ever be up to your approval so you bring down every conversation about the subject that comes up. The best part about the new Star Wars product is that you don't have anything to do with producing it. Then it really would suck. Buh-bye.

I've never understood how they decide which shows are supposedly drawing in viewers and how that effects what they do or do now renew. For example, I just signed back up to Max last week to watch Dr. Who, and a bunch of movies that I missed in theaters like the Aquaman sequel, Furiosa, Godzilla x Kong, Wonka, and Barbie, and because I wanted to make sure I'm signed up in time for The Last of Us Season 2. So will they know that I signed up to watch those movies and TLOU Season 2 even though the movies have been up for months or over a year, and TLOU doesn't come back for just under a month?
Let's say I say a streaming service today to watch a specific show that starts next week, but another show starts tomorrow, will they have a way to know I signed up to watch next week's and not tomorrow's?

If it was just the lightsaber fight(s), then it would be just a clip or two on YouTube that's supposedly surging in viewership.

And hard disagree that show isn't great.
Just curious how you (and everybody) would compare it to Mando, TBOBF, OWK, Andor, and Skeleton Crew. Rate the live action shows on a scale of 1 to 10.

Thank you for not including Resistance. That thing should be in it’s own “dried prunes” category.

There are several indispensably solid episodes of Resistance, and at least one of its episodes is better than the worst of all other animated series. It's included in all my rankings.
