Well, I just finished the book. While it wasn’t exactly what I expected (and while the basic set-up would be the same if it had been a direct sequel to BEY, I think there’s enough wiggle room for such a story to zig instead of zag. It’d be more different than “The Naked Time/Now”). Still, as a number-one BEY fan, I appreciated the similarities to it.
Checking my notes for things I wanted to mention, there’s a typo the first time the Baldwin’s registry number is mentioned, 613 instead of 316; I liked the “shouting Spock” running joke; I liked the shout-out to the Pima & Space Museum outside Tucson, one of the highlights of my last cross-country trip (definitely recommended for anyone visiting Arizona); took me a second to get why Yerah was distraught about dying before getting married, they should probably have started racking up spouses by Denobulan standards.
