I love how casually Carol said, "it's an atom bomb."
I finally had a chance to watch the finale.
The thing that stood out to me almost immediately during Carol and Manousos' first meeting is how Carol has become Laxmi. Carol is now defensive of the Others, or at least in the regards to Zosia, just as Laxmi is in regards to her son. Carol treats Manousos with the same level of hostility and distrust as Laxmi treated Carol in direct reaction to Manousos' bullheadedness that parallels Carol's own bullheadedness on Air Force One. Carol even freaks out at Manousos the same way Laxmi did at Carol when he (deliberately which, to be fair, is contrary to past Carol) caused the Others to seize. And all of this is driven home by Laxmi's phone call in response to that seizure. The best part: Both Carol and Laxmi would bristle at this comparison.
As for the big revelations of the finale, I wasn't surprised by either of them. I honestly should've realized the nature of the mysterious signal was directly connected to the Others and how they're connected to each other globally. I'm curious to see how Manousos' discovery will be utilized...and hopefully without causing the Others to seize again. As for Carol's stem cells, that path became clear the moment we learned her eggs had been frozen, but kudos to the show for its natural introduction to the story before pulling back the veil.
...and then there was twelve. I didn't expect a full-blown ceremony for Kusimayu's joining but was a lovely touch. I did expect another shoe to drop during the whole thing, whether it would go terribly wrong during the process or shortly thereafter, but I was pleasantly surprised that it went without a hitch. I even expect a big reveal due to the time jump but, instead, that was connected more to the Others' efforts with the Joining for the remaining Immune and how it's connected with Carol's own looming..."cure."
Drone on the Streetlight watch: I honestly feel like Gilligan is deliberately avoiding all shots of that particular streetlight just so we can't see whether or not the drone is still there, but maybe I'm just being paranoid. Either way, I think from the bird's eye view of the helicopter shows that it's not there but I couldn't be 100% sure.

Heh, I was so focused on the Laxmi parallels that I didn't even see the additional Koumba parallel. Both of them are clearly deliberate on the show's part but I wonder if those parallels are lost on Carol.
Why do you think Manousos even knows Rick? Rick was just the next guy the Others sent over, as per Manousos' request. I'm sure Manousos knows Rick's name because Manousos asked Rick his name for the express purpose of trying to communicating to Rick once Manousos disrupted the signal.
Oh, I missed that! I was trying to make out the book cover but I didn't pause the episode to look at the cover (it's not one of the traditional covers so I didn't recognize it right away). As a big fan of that novel, I think you might be right.

I think this was a misunderstanding on my part. You're right, he was just the next guy the Others sent.
It was gone at the start of the last episode, when Manousos arrives.
It was still hanging there in the episode before.
It was there at the beginning of the eighth episode but that was before the Others came in to clean up and I was desperately looking for it afterwards.
