I think CBS is going to make a TOS reboot, just to punish me personally. They know it's what I don't want, so they're going to invest a huge amount of money into making it happen.

Yeah, I don’t see it happening either. But you can hardly fault a Hollywood writer/producer, who likes to stay employed, keep the idea of it happening alive in the minds of people listening to him.
Having read through some of those reviews @NCC-73515 posted above I think the first half of season three sounds very much like they continue the show the same way they have been writing it for the past two seasons, where most episodes are barely connected standalone outings with a focus on a variety of styles. Of all the episodes described I’m particularly looking forward to the Holodeck murder mystery. I like the idea of how they've incorporated the retro sci-fi show in that one. My guess is that it’s going to be meatier material towards the latter half of the season. And I’m very much ready for it.

I do think it’s slightly telling that he would even remotely say it, because my understanding is that, far more often than otherwise, when a show ends, the sets are immediately struck down.
This notion that they would still have them, if this was recorded accurately, is a bit mystifying when taken straight. Either there’s a real belief here that they’ll stick around, the jot-down of the producer’s words was a bit misconstrued, or the fellow is… somehow misinformed as to how this tends to work…?
Edit: You know, rereading it, I find the “once the show is over, they’ll still have the original sets” part to be something the Reddit poster themself may very well have added as their own personal take on the situation. Barring corrections to the contrary from that person, I’m going to go ahead and give strong odds that Goldsman didn’t say the words.

I don't think people are down on it, such as thinking they will be bad episodes. Just that they want some meat and potatoes and not just all cake and ice cream in the season. It does feel like the show has decided that it's basically going to be a Sci Fi comedy, with maybe a couple of sort of series episodes a season.
Yeah, I was laughing my rear end off at the end of Season 2 with the decision to shoot or not weighing on Pike. That was hilarious.

That's why I said they would still do 2 or 3 maybe series episodes. Also I think it's something that they might come to gradually. As in they see comedy as the shows main strength, so they going to hard into it.
TOS had sensible chuckles at the end of several episodes. Strikes me as they are steering in the TOS direction.
This is why I'm confused when people say that SNW is just like TOS. I don't get that vibe at all from it.
I've been watching the wrong MCU material because SNW is nothing like it.
MCU material I think would be defined as fun escapism filled with character banter and sometimes it does something deep but it does love to always come back to the fun banter. Basically the main focus on creating interesting character dynamics more so than story. TOS did this as well but it's 60's attitudes are very prominent in everything.
I took the liberty of asking that Reddit thread’s author to detail what Akiva Goldsman said regarding sets. While they have not gotten back to me yet, I did find someone on the main Star Trek sub who also attended, and asked if they had any clarification of their own.

Thanks for inquiring about that clarification, @Quinton! It‘s interesting how two people can attend the same panel, listen to the same words and arrive at differing takeaways. It’s so easy these days for some news site or YouTuber to spin the original Reddit post into a click-baity article/video about Goldsman saying he definitively plans to work on more Trek in those same sets.
It feels like TOS made in the 2020s, which is what I've always wanted from modern Trek.
I'd be delighted if they continue on with Kirk and crew, once SNW comes to an end. Probably won't happen, but I'd love it if it did.
They could tell the stories between the stories of TOS.
Haha, yeah! I’ve written a few news articles for the gaming industry in my time, and nothing upsets me more than when this stuff is scooped up without due diligence. Not that Tuskin did this - they were just showing us what somebody said, not trying to get 1,000 new subscribers by declaring anything definitive!
One thing I really like about this place is that it doesn’t seem like many of us are OK with falling head-over-heels for that kind of clickbait. Just the same, it’s good to get things straightened out on our own, if possible!
Taking things that production personnel and actors say out of context is par for the course for Star Trek fans, and definitely for clickbait sites.
Of course, there’s also the opposite problem, where people say certain things to deliberately imply something that isn’t actually a thing.

If they were to do something with the TOS characters after SNW ends, I'm kind of warming to the idea some people have been batting around various forums of doing a series that takes place during the movie era, like between TMP and TWOK, of which there's something like a dozen years largely untouched by canon. It's pretty much a blank canvas in the Trek mythos where you can do anything, new stuff, memberberries, maybe even bring back some SNW characters for guest appearances. It's doubtful it'll happen given the uncertain future Paramount+ and streaming television currently have, but that would be my "in a perfect world..." wish.
