No, some people just don't want Star Trek to be funny. It's serious goddamn business, and a comedy is a wasted story!

Probably not. It's more Trek as a serious philosophical and contemplative business and comedy episodes don't count. Probably because 10 episode seasons is too thin an episode count to allow such levity.
Also, LD does not fit neatly in the continuity box.
No. I like fun. Tribbles was fun. A piece of the action was fun. I mudd was fun. Old scientists just was not fun. That's My opinion. I Did like a few things - the una poster as well as the pin up banter, the not all orion's are pirates when they really are, but the best part was it was only 48 minutes not a full hour!
See, I'm all about Star Trek taking risks. The same thing week after week for sixty years is just not interesting anymore. SNW is the most fun I've had in Star Trek in quite some time. Maybe ever. Note that that's just my opinion.
SNW is the first live-action Trek in nearly 20 years I actually have confidence in week-to-week when it comes to being entertaining. I'll take some thin, contrived plots and rehashed tropes if it gives me good Star Trek I want to rewatch.
I wish there was more than 10 episodes. 13-15 seems to be a sweet spot (Discovery has 13 episode seasons). We're almost done with Season 2 of SNW and it still feels like it just started.

I'm sure I'm quite alone in that 10 episodes is just right for me to keep up with.
The AMPTP (IE EVERY Studio and their Studio Heads) as a whole is digging their heels in over Streaming Residuals (in the same way they did against ANY increase in Residuals previously; which is why all those who acted in TV series pre 1984 didn't get any residuals past the second/third repeat of an episode. Any series made after that used a higher Residuals formula. They changed it again in 1989 and the last update wasa 2002 for DVDs and some digital media.
As someone who's had Cerebral Palsy from birth; I DON'T think it's a 'bad look' at all. He was told UP FRONT that they planed to kill his character off before the end of the season BEFORE he signed up. I think it's a GOOD LOOK that they hired a visually impaired actor to play a blind character, and I don't think the Producers went in with the attitude of 'lets hire a disabled actor and kill his character off for the fun of it.'
They brought in a Star Trek species first seen in the series Enterprise (an Aenar of Andoria), made him a chief Engineer; but PLANNED to kill him off to re-enforce the fact that space exploration in Starfleet can be dangerous; and again, it wasn't an 'off the cuff' decision, it was planned from the start and the actor involved was informed of that BEFORE he took the role.
i have no issue with how or why they did it, nor as a "disabled person" myself do I think it's a 'bad look' or some sort of slight or disrespect from the SNW Producers towards "disabled" people. But that's me.
And if anyone believes I should instead be using 'Physically Abled' as a term to describe myself or others with/in a similar situation, screw you. I lived with CP my entire life and I realize the government (for various reasons) labels conditions so they can be tracked - and I don't consider either 'Handicapped' or 'Disabled' a pejorative term when used in that fashion. Believe me in that I can tell and WILL respond appropriately if and when I see someone usig either of those terms in a pejorative manner. But I despise the term 'Physically Abled' as a 'way to show handicapped people have skills and can be productive and not be pejorative'. To me a name/label by itself isn't necessarily pejorative; it's how it's used by some that can be the problem.
Or just fun in general. Case in point: the butthurt in some quarters over the upcoming musical episode.

"Little Green Men(DS9)" was basically a Star Trek comedy that took place in 1947 New Mexico and it even worked. I mean it refers to President Truman as a "piano-playing Democrat" and the character doing it is played by the same man who was the SINGING HIPPIE Adam in "The Way to Eden(TOS)."

I wasn't part of the Fandom when it came out, but I wonder what Buffy fans thought at the time that "Once More, With Feeling" was announced. I was amazed at how much arc advancement that episode actually had. I know SNW is episodic in nature, but I'm excited for it mainly because it is different, and I like original songs. The franchise will actually do something they have never done before. If it works, we might look at this as a pivitol moment for Star Trek in 10 or 20 years from now.
