Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

The original Michael Burnham

I never noticed this detail before. The corridor junctions have TOS corridor influence in them

The cardboard corridors and rooms were always on the Enterprise. Those were reserved for enlisted crew at the bottom of the rank hierarchy, while the officers (and even cadet Uhura) got to work and live in the Apple store corridors and rooms.

Once Kirk got over, disgusted with the blatant elitism and disparity in interior design between officers and enlisted, he ordered that all corridors and rooms in the officer ranks be "downgraded" to the enlisted style to show equality among all the crew.

There, discrepancies resolved.

TMP had different colored walls for each deck. The officer's deck was a nice burgundy with padded panels (and matching furniture in the O-lounge).

Other decks were just painted brushed steel (or duranium or whatever stuff walls are made of in the 23rd century) or exposed metal.

Definitely still some elitism going on post-TMP.

I always imagined that the Primary Hull decks in TMP were color coded because of it being where the crews quarters and living spaces were and the Secondary Hull was all one color since it was primarily Engineering work space and cargo storage.

I don’t think you imagined it, actually. I remember reading about the same thing. I believe the deck containing the EV suits that Spock entered for his TMP space walk had wall panels that were painted a light sky blue. The lighting was such, however, that it wasn’t clearly visible and it looked like the plain engineering level brushed metal. Other decks were supposed to be painted other colors but we never got a chance to see them. I’m sure there’s an article buried somewhere on MA or Ex Astris that talks about it. Just to lazy today to look it up. Long story short, I believe you’re right - that was the plan at one time.

They see me driving my vehicle
They have illogical feelings of hate and envy
Patrol craft are trying to catch me with Nurse Chapel and illicit substances

Trying to catch me high and flirting
Trying to catch me high and flirting
Trying to catch me high and flirting
Trying to catch me high and flirting

My lute is so loud
I'm swinging between lanes
They are hoping that they are going to catch me running amok

Trying to catch me high and flirting
Trying to catch me high and flirting
Trying to catch us high and flirting
Trying to catch us high and flirting

Waving to see if they will leave me be
I'm green-tinted, and it is not easy to be green
When you see me ride by, they can see my IDIC medallion gleam
I appear on the deck and the TV screen

And I am riding with a new companion, and she says, "Loosen up"
Peer into my bridge scope and move the controller
I have an extra energy clip in my phaser holster
Nerve pinch an attacker into a coma
