That’s true of McCoy and his father (TSFS, TFF) and Kirk and Sam (prompting his android in WALGMO; OA). Going by dialog alone, McCoy was not of woman born and Kirk had no parents at all.Spock never says anything about family until he has to.

My brother is a nutcase. My sister is classified. And my dad is kind of a dick.Season 2: "Your family is THIS important that T'Pau would show up for your ceremony?"
Season 2: "Your father is THAT Ambassador Sarek?"
TFF: "You have a half-brother?"
TUC post-credits deleted scene: "Before we retire I'd like to know why you never talk about your family. Dude."
i think there is some logic to Sybok even if we were never told about him. however, michael burnham has always been too far fetched and way too ridiculous for a star trek character.
Michael Burnharm is just an unnecessary character and one of the best example that shows the pitfall of prequels.
Keep the Burnham hatred to the Disco forum where it at least has some relevance on account of her being the main character of the show that forum is dedicated to. Leave it out of the SNW forum.Michael Burnharm is just an unnecessary character and one of the best example that shows the pitfall of prequels.
So, one thing I already know that I am going to dislike about this show is how Spock, Uhura, Chapel are the only 3 main characters we see in TOS. And it is obvious in strange new worlds, Spock would have lots of interaction, friendship and maybe even a one off romance thing with at least one of them or maybe both, but somehow when TOS happens. Spock barely interacts with them, instead he, McCoy and Kirk are all stuck together like the 3 Musketeers.
It reminds me of the X-MEN movies, the prequel movies (first class and days of future past) established that Professor Xavier and Mystique were very close, almost like siblings...heck Xavier was even depressed for 10 years when Mystique left, however by the time the original movies came out in the 2000-2006. Xavier and Mystique barely spoke or had scenes together where their past relationship was ever discuss.
Spock having an unrevealed relative he never mentioned before we see them onscreen is 100% in character.

At best it clashed with some BTS comments and fan supposition,.Only because of Sybok, an equally silly reveal. They just wanted a Spock connection, in both cases, that clashed with -- but did not contradict -- established lore.

Good.Which is what SNW will do constantly.
There is nothing about Michael being Spock’s sister that is at all far fetched, or ridiculous. There is nothing about her that makes her any more unnecessary than any other Star Trek character, something that is just patently presposterous to say.
Spock having an unrevealed relative he never mentioned before we see them onscreen is 100% in character. And Sarek, who married two humans and has a Vulcan/human son, adopting a human child isn’t the slightest bit ridiculous, illogical, or far fetched, it would be again, wholly consistent with his character.
Michael being Spock’s sister doesn’t contradict anything, or strain logic or believability at all, without applying a standard that ignores literally every instance of Spock’s family and past that has ever come up in the history of Star Trek.
Michael Burnham is the best thing to happen to the Spock character since the Genesis wave.Michael Burnham being Spock's sister is farfetched. We knew more about Spock's family than any other character's family in TOS. Kirk talks about Spock's father being an ambassador and mother being a teacher in This Side of Paradise. McCoy knew that Spock's family was important, but not how important in Amok Time. We knew that Vulcan marriages are arranged in childhood which makes Sybok's reveal in ST5 logical. Hell, we even knew that Spock had a childhood pet. Spock having a human sister that went to the academy, was in Star Fleet, and led a mutiny would have known as well even with the order not to discuss Discovery. In my opinion, they did Michael's character a disservice by connecting her to Spock in this fashion. She could have been a human that grew up on Vulcan that Sarek took an interest in. One secret sibling was enough.
Wait, how? Both are secrets Spock chose not to reveal even with his closest friends. We knew that Vulcan marriages are arranged in childhood which makes Sybok's reveal in ST5 logical.

You need to re-watch those episodes my friend. In "This Side Of Paradise", it's Spock who talks about his mother and father in response to a taunt by Kirk in the transporter room as he's trying to free Spock of the Spore influence.
In "Amok Time", it's Kirk (not McCoy), who recognizes T'Pau, and informs McCoy about her history; and they're both surprised because it's yes neither one knew Spock's family was "...this important..."
So yeah if your knowledge of TOS cannon is this inaccurate, you're not doing your position any favors.
As for Vulcan marriages being arranged, it doesn't make Sybok's existence illogical (as he was the product of Sarek's earlier marriage to a Vulcan princess) it actually makes Spock's existence illogical why would any Vulcan family arrange a marriage between a Vulcan and a Human?
So yeah as as far as your arguments, they make no logical sense.
Yes, because no one has ever had super secret people in their past to be dramatically revealed later.honestly i can barely watch the first two seasons of discovery anymore because it is just so cringe to see Michael act or be so super-important to spock and the sarek family.
