I think they don't want to pay for storage, and making new costumes that have no wear and tear in the age of HD is probably on their minds, unlike 60s or 90s era.

I wanted to see Axanar. My problems with the project have been about Alec Peters, not the filmmaking itself. I still get a kick out of the "Prelude" short film. Peters is just a dishonest assclown.

Well Peters owned the original Garth costume, so had to use it regardless of the sense it made.

They are very good at duplicating the look of the past. Going by that uniform on Garth's bed, not so good at extrapolating from it.
So he got the part because he owns the "Johnny Bravo suit"?
Actual canon Trek feels like that at times.
