Next "PHASE"... 😂 Who do they think they are now...the MCU? Actually it's taking the trajectory of the MCU.....just a lot quicker...

It’s fascinating just how dramatically the numbers can morph between Luminate’s practice and Nielsen’s more familiar one, but at least in that sense they aren’t totally at-odds in methodology. Still, I’d be willing to bet that “Hegemony, Part 1” got a lot of playback in season three’s premiere week, but we don’t see its impact here, thanks to Luminate’s apparent practices? (We did see SNW pop up on Nielsen a couple of weeks ago, however - doubtless due to rewatches in the lead-up to the premiere!)
On SNW popping up on Nielsen's recently. Thats a not really, but sort of. It placed on Amazon's own tracking for those that use the Amazon portal to access Paramount plus. Strange New Worlds was 8th Reacher was 9th. But neither will be anywhere near the level to reach the top ten on Nielsen's chart for that week.

Now for about a year and a half Nielsen did release the top ten data for Netflix, Disney, Apple, Amazon and Hulu.

Just doing a Quick Look over two months during 2023 that would be in the range of 60 to 40 million minutes watched as a guesstimate.

Very insightful, much obliged!

It's an old word, with a storied history in Star Trek. ;)
First they came for the quips. Now, you can't use a common word like "phase" to refer to a developmental stage without being accused of copying Marvel movies.

We also may want to rename phasers, phase cannons, and phasing cloaks (and the TNG episode, "The Next Phase") just to be on the safe side.

Yeah, that's kind of a bummer. But, like they said, they only have 10 episodes to work with (and half that next season?) so I guess they had to cut out some ideas somewhere. Personally, I would also have loved to see the TAS episode more than the Muppet one, but not a big deal either way.

I know Alex Kurtzman vouches for David Ellison being a Star Trek fan.

His studio did help finance 2x of the JJ Abrams Trek Movies.

Do you know anymore about David Ellison and if he's really a Star Trek fan?

What is the status of Star Trek on the small screen? Is Skydance involved in that?

ELLISON: It's something that we would love to be involved in. As I'm sure everybody knows, the rights situation given the CBS and Paramount divorce on the Star Trek rights is very, very complicated. The exact status of it is absolutely something being worked on. We would love to be involved, but all to be determined at this time.

GOLDBERG: You're preaching to the converted. We would love it, both as fans and as people who would want to be involved in the making of them. We would love it. Everything you just said is right. It goes with what we were talking about before with television is you can just take more time to tell very specific stories and it would be fantastic. It's not something we control, sadly.

ELLISON: Just for example how much we love it is when we were talking about Terminator recently and the episode we kept referencing was obviously whether or not they argue if Data actually doesn't wanna get transferred, if he actually has a right and has free will and is a human being and switches him off. It's amazing, the television show explored these incredibly deep phenomenal themes that we would absolutely love to do and be a part of, and we wish it was entirely up to us

I've been following along with one of my kids re-watching season 1. I want my captain back. In season one he was my favorite captain ever. He beat Sisko. He barely beat Kirk. But he beat him.

I love how much they have expanded the roles of all of the cast. And I'm loving that Erica finally got another story that was meatier than "I fly the ship".

But, dammit. Pike was the CAPTAIN in the first season. It wasn't all about him but he resolved a lot of plot. He felt like the leader, or at least the Dad. He pushed, prodded, and encouraged. He was the shining boy scout at the center of the ship.

I wouldn't mind Una getting to dress down Ortegas in the latest ep if Pike got to do more Captain-y things. He's like the anti-Shatner: Everyone else is getting to do his stuff.

I know M'Benga is supposed to be Dr. Rambo now, but in the latest episode I can't help feeling like Pike is kind of tagging along.

I still love the show, but I feel like something has been unbalanced.

So, I haven’t tended to agree with the not-uncommon perception among fans that the first season was markedly stronger than the second (and what’s been shown of the third), but this is the one area where I do concur. Pike’s strength as the leading character diminished after that initial batch of episodes. Not to a critical extent, but too much for my tastes given how much I adore Mount’s performance.

Good find!

Sybok, yes! Very pleased to hear they are planning to follow up on that tease after all!

Jesse James Keitel’s Captain Angel character was great in “The Serene Squall”, so I’m actually more interested in seeing them again if this leads to it. Been hoping for a sequel to the Sybok bit since it aired not so much for him as for them, haha.

I'm wondering if the whole baby thing is what diminished Anson's role.
Perhaps They wrote less for him so he could be back at home more often with his wife during the pregnancy.
Perhaps now that the child has come into the world, he'll be back in a stronger capacity for the last two seasons.

I'm taking note of the wording about Sybok, specifically that we could see "a version" of him. This combined with comments about Romulans possibly showing up is making me think we're probably getting another alternate reality episode.
