I'm taking note of the wording about Sybok, specifically that we could see "a version" of him. This combined with comments about Romulans possibly showing up is making me think we're probably getting another alternate reality episode.

Well, just posted it to the Season 4 preview thread but it seems to fit here too:
A real Trek fan has or secretly desires to wear a Starfleet outfit in public and let others bask in his or her Trekieness.
If you're not using stardate conversion charts to turn real world dates into stardates then you're not a real fan.
I have occasionally been astonished at how old I was when I stopped writing my dates as stardates. (Simple yymm.dd.) Or in what venues that I did it.
I did it in high school.

I started doing that in 1972 after I went to the first Trek Convention in NYC.
I was 13 and had graduated from 6th to 7th grade that year.
I wore my nerd moniker proudly.

I once made a list of every Starfleet officer, even it was a random extra or name for some reason. Also I don't know much about tech yet somehow I figured out how to hook up two vcr's to my tv were I could play a video on one and record it on a blank VCR tape from the other. My goal was to record all the Trek shows in run order and I would for example rent some DS9 episodes from Blockbuster and record them onto my blank VCR tape. Basically I was thinking of figuring out how to binge watch Trek before that was even a thing.
I created my own Star Trek Timeline using all the episodes in my imagined order a year before TMP came out and was showing it around at Trek conventions I went to.
Wasn't half bad, even got me a mention in the first edition of the Okuda's 'Star Trek: Chronology' foreword.
