Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Ditching camouflage is one thing, but having color coded tactical uniforms is quite another. In today's military, rank insignia is intentionally small and located in the same spot for everyone of every rank exactly to obscure who the higher ranking people are so the enemy won't know who to treat as a priority target, Likewise, saluting and standing at attention in the presence of a superior are suspended while in the field for the same reason.

Having color coded tactical gear seems to negate the purpose of having tactical gear. All the enemy has to do is take note of which one is wearing a gold vest and declare them a priority target. Or anyone with a red vest as they're likely the ones with more combat experience.

On Disco, everyone wore a blue field uniform with no distinctive features for department with a black vest. Even medical officers wore the blue field uniform despite usually wearing a white duty uniform. That's a tactical uniform which made sense.

Yes, I know I'm getting too worked up over this.
Shh...you're not supposed to say Discovery did something that made sense.

Also, this is sounding dangerously close like saying Starfleet is a military ;)

Wellz the trek in the first few years of this century really, reaaaallllllyyy sucked and practically killed the franchise for quite awhile so that's kinda faint praise

I like Strange New Worlds but I honestly kind of like it less every time someone says it's so much better than the other Treks because I like them too and if I have to choose, I would choose Picard, DISCO, and Lower Decks over SNW.

These comparisons are partially why I came to hate The Orville.

There's a reason why I strongly believe that comparison is the thief of joy.

Netflix didn’t cancel the deal, it was the other way around. CBS/Paramount paid Netflix to end their deal.

To give another way of phrasing the same point: "Paramount has succeeded dramatically with Paramount Plus. In addition to Star Trek it now has TWO shows other people watch with Halo and Yellowstone 1800s. Otherwise, though, their streaming platform is dependent on Trek and rewatches of Big Brother."
