Spoilers Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

What I can also tell you from meeting people like Tawny Newsome, Melissa Navia and Anson Mount is that meeting them and having a good time meeting them does definitely deepen your appreciation for these people.
Absolutely. I met Ethan Phillips back in 2019 and he was so nice, we just had a chat about our lives for like 20 minutes because he wasm't busy. Every time I see Neelix in an episode now I'm reminded of what a generous and kind person he is.

I also met Brandon Routh and Arthur Darvill that day in my Beebo tshirt. Wonderful memories.

Yeah, the guest list is already pretty amazing. So nice to see such a strong Strange New Worlds showing! Will have to decide who I will want to meet for a photo out of Jess Bush, Babs Olusanmokun, Ethan Peck and Celia Rose Gooding. My wallet will hate me after May. So cool that you will be there as well, @Uncle Sock!
I've met all of those you said except Celia. They were all fun to talk with. (Had an awesome conversation with Babs about "Under the Cloak of War", as well.)

Your wallet may hate you, but your memories will love you. Those experiences are fantastic, and hope you get to see them all.

That shirt is older than him lmao

Wikipedia and M-A don't have his age listed, but I found an interview saying he's 26

While Rosta's a handsome guy, I have considered if this show gets renewed for the full four years, his hairline is going to make passing for college age increasingly difficult.

My uncle was full u bald by 20. Balding college students is a non issue to me.

Of course they exist. Hell, I knew a guy who already had a receding hairline in middle school. Went to a different HS than me, but mutual friends said he was visibly going bald before he graduated. And the rando guys in college who were balding had a strange cache, since they didn't get carded when they went to buy alcohol.

But the fact remains Rosta was cast in part because he offers sex appeal to a younger female audience. But he visibly has a higher forehead in the promo interviews now than when Season 1 was being filmed. He could absolutely shave it and do a younger Vin Diesel/Rock thing. But I don't think that's the sort of Gen Z hot they're looking for.

I'm sure he'll do fine in the future nonetheless. His acting chops are amazing for someone right out of school, and he's still going to be a handsome guy built like a brick house even if he's rapidly trending more "daddy." It's just notable how much further back his hairline is now in the promo interviews than when Season 1 was filmed. Unfortunate timing is all.

I guess so. I didn't notice it but I guess I've been around more balding and receeding hairline people in college that they don't seem to be less appealing to me.

I guess different strokes or whatever because I don't hear comments on hair as part of sex appeal.

Judging by the preview pics, he’s got at least one other feature that’ll make people forget all about his hairline.

Yes, the infamously right-wing northwest! :guffaw:
The northwest ( as opposed to the Pacific Northwest) is rather infamously known as being "reichwing". Idaho especially. Even the Eastern portions of left leaning states like Washington, Oregon and (GASP!!!) California are reliably right voting areas.

I went to school with someone who was going grey by 16.
Frankly, if they were going for young female sex appeal, one of the male cadets should've looked like a K-pop star.

I don't know why the image is mirrored and this was the best quality picture of the Orion cadet I could find that the site would allow to me to link

Reminds me, I noticed more aliens are being played by Asian actors.

You mean South East Asian.

In terms of The continent of Asia, Star Trek remains non-diverse in terms of main or significantly recurring characters (and to some extent actors) that are identifiably from the Indian subcontinent and its diaspora. The four countries (India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) and their diaspora have a population combined of over 2.5 billion people, or over 30% of the world's population.

They could be from China, Japan or Korea, which aren't in SEA. T'Pring and her family are played by South Asian actors
T'Pring- Gia Sandhu
T'Prill- Ellora Patnaik
Sevet- Michael Benyaer
