"After being on the run since age 6, 21-year-old Caleb, a brilliant street kid, is offered the chance of a lifetime: to join the first new Starfleet Academy class in San Francisco in over a century. There's just one problem – the person offering him the spot is newly-minted Chancellor Nahla Ake, the Starfleet captain who sentenced his mother to Federation prison 15 years ago..." - TrekCore.com

After a couple of years of news, pictures and promos, what remains to be seen are the fans' reactions, and whether or not it can actually capture a bit of that mainstream success they're hoping for. This also looks to be the first Trek series to be cancelled before even airing. I have my own opinions on all of that and I'm sure it's the same as what almost everyone else is thinking but you still have to have that "wait and see" attitude. The show will no doubt have a lot of strengths and weaknesses. The "starfleet academy" idea has been around for decades. Let's see what they do with what could possibly be their one and only chance.

First comment... Love the episode title.

Well, they haven’t said anything official yet, but right now there are no new episodes ordered after the ones they are just finishing filming. So while there hasn’t been an active decision (yet) to cancel it, it’s effectively going to end after season two, which might be a distinction without a difference. However, I do wonder when the (latest) point in time would be where a decision like that would have to be made. Right after filming is finished on season two? When post-production has wrapped for that season (which can take up to a year or so after filming, Kurtzman said in a recent interview)? Or even later still? How long can they afford to have those sets standing in the studio? Will be interesting to see how it all shapes up.
