Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

PIC S3 was weak. People just give it a pass because of TNG characters and the Ent D appearing. The story was full of holes.

Borg...AGAIN? ugh. They've been done to death. The Changeling threat was intriguing but of course they had to be just a red herring for more Borg.

Picard had nothing to do with the Changeling genocide. That was Section 31, so i don't know what Vadic's beef with Picard was. Likewise, Picard didn't destroy the Borg , Janeway did, so the BQ's rage is misplaced.

Let's see...the Metrons AGAIN, Trelane AGAIN, T'pring AGAIN, Klingons AGAIN, Sybok almost AGAIN....all the legacy TOS bridge characters AGAIN, Enterprise AGAIN , Gorn AGAIN..dang that Picard Season 3....oh wait that is Strange New Worlds...OPPS... 😳

What it does to characters is worse than SNW. It's quality of the change over quantity. Two, as others I don't treat SNW as leading straight to TOS. So, any fanwank lands way differently.

Wanking is wanking. Doesn't matter the technique... 😂

Also Picard Season 3 was not perfect. I know that and a lot of people who liked it knows that. But it was very enjoyable and YES much of it had to do with the old characters. But at least they were played by their original actors and except for a few wtf moments they were handled well.

Also I thought they handled datas resurrection well and cleaned up the mess they did with him in Picard season 1.

No.

And it's not funny.

By making them act out of character and undoing a lot of work.
No one acted out of character. Let's not forget it's over 20 years later and they have all changed. Now all the legacy characters on SNW definitely don't act like themselves. Especially Spock.

And it's funny to me which is why I was laughing....😃

Yes, they did. Picard refused to behave according to the rules, Beverly lies consistently, and Riker feels very out of place.

Spock makes more sense than the TNG crew. Nevermind the completely reuse of a villain because...

Provide your evidence or retract your claim. Simple as that.

I won't retract my claim. Sorry.
In short: he won't do either.
Whatever.

Again, I call bullshit until you provide a source. I followed all the pre-production news on Discovery (at least the news that came from legitimate sources, not Youtubers with agendas) and this is literally the first time I have ever heard anything even vaguely or remotely like this. It just sounds like more wishful thinking from the usual suspects.

Im sure you'll call bullshit regardless. Again the aesthetics of the show were closer to the Kelvin universe. He ultimately picked the prime universe to keep it separate from the films. But in the creative phase it could have been either.

its here in this article. Enjoy.

I actually did enjoy it because he goes on to say about how they specifically developed it for the Prime timeline in order to avoid stepping on the toes of the Abrams verse. Even if he actually did initialy develop a Star Trek story that could fit in either universe, he goes on to explicitly confirm that the show does indeed take place in the prime timeline and why that decision was made.

So I acquiesce on the point that he developed a general and vague enough of a Star Trek concept that could fit into either universe or even one of its own, but that article confirms definitively that by intent, Discovery does indeed take place in the prime time line. Thanks. I will refer to this article anytime someone tries to tell me that Discovery is an alternate timeline.

I know he smiled during the series. But the smile in the Menagerie and THE WOMEN are the two instances people constantly bring up to justify Spock become an out in the open Vulcan/man whore In SNW😂
