Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

Bryan fuller said it while STDs first season was being mapped out.. He said he was creating the show as it could be taken as a Kelvin or prime universe from fans if they wanted. Though it was officially a prime timeline show he wanted to make it fit with the designs of the Kelvin universe as well. Hence the window viewscreens etc. He really cared little for the original source material.
I call bullshit. Provide a source.

I can't believe we're at the end of 2025 and we've still got people spouting these bizarre conspiracy theories about Kurtzman and streaming-era Trek being in an alternate universe.

That is silly. Kurtzman Trek is not an alternate universe. It's a complete reboot not connected to the Roddenberry/Berman verse....😀

He didn't . It's painfully obvious.
Then it isn't truth but opinion. And it isn't painfully obvious since Discovery and Strange New Worlds are not just Kurtzman ordering ideas any more than the Kelvin films were just Abrams dictating everything.

Just like my opinion on TOS. Ultimately, it doesn't matter because I'm not sitting and watching a show or film thinking about another show. If that's happened then the show has failed on a basic entertainment level.

Salvage it? Season three is utter fanwank nonsense, and undercuts some of the best parts of the previous seasons.

Picard and Beverley having a secret son (who has secret Borg DNA inherited from Picard's secret Borg DNA), a secret Data with all of his memories, the Enterprise D being revived and saving the day, etc, are far more ridiculous than the scene you're misinterpreting.

Maybe it's Fanwank. But SNW has been fanwanking all over the place since it's first ep. In fact the entire show is one big Wank. One big hard wank.

Its true. He only chose the prime universe oit of necessity. He said it would have worked in either universe. The advanced Kelvin style tech gives it away.
Again, I call bullshit until you provide a source. I followed all the pre-production news on Discovery (at least the news that came from legitimate sources, not Youtubers with agendas) and this is literally the first time I have ever heard anything even vaguely or remotely like this. It just sounds like more wishful thinking from the usual suspects.

For the record: ENT was always in James Kirk's past and in his school history texts. The NX-01 was always in the 1701-D's holodeck computer. There's no "alternate history" in Trek except where specifically stated otherwise, like the Kelvin Timeline.
But then what can I do with my 2000 year and 5000 page timeline with annotations?

PIC S3 was weak. People just give it a pass because of TNG characters and the Ent D appearing. The story was full of holes.

Borg...AGAIN? ugh. They've been done to death. The Changeling threat was intriguing but of course they had to be just a red herring for more Borg.

Picard had nothing to do with the Changeling genocide. That was Section 31, so i don't know what Vadic's beef with Picard was. Likewise, Picard didn't destroy the Borg , Janeway did, so the BQ's rage is misplaced.
