What's Your Alternate Fate For Captain James T. Kirk after TOS/TUC?

There is a real contradiction in Scotty seeing Kirk lost in the Nexus in GEN yet in TNG’s “Relics” his first assumption upon being materialized was Kirk has come looking for him.
I used to think it was a contradiction because Brannon Braga even admits they put Scotty in the movie knowing that it was a contradiction, but finally it occurred to me that Scotty probably just didn't believe Kirk was really dead :)

Kirk's fate? He ended up back in the past where he ran this place:

There are two possible explanations for that.

One is that Scotty's memories were affected by the .003% signal degradation his transporter pattern suffered. At the very least, he could be a little fuzzy when he came out, memory-wise.

The other explanation is that Scotty knows that James T. Kirk didn't actually die in 2293. That guy that Picard met in the Nexus was just Kirk's echo.

The novelization of RELICS has a moment when Scotty finds some of his fellow ''Big 7'' crewmembers have passed away, but keeps specifics vague.....no doubt frustrating for would-be completists and aspiring know-it-alls.:borg:

Or Scotty is just unusually optimistic?

I think Kirk went to Alpha Beta Lunar base to switch to the best desk job ever. Here's an example of one of his less exciting days:

One of the Shatner novels explained it away by saying Scotty said it hoping it would be true but knowing it wasn't.
