That's extremely common in managing trauma. Plus not wanting people to be constantly asking after it.Boxing might be a way to cope with the injury. To prove it's not a big deal. ( even though it is). Some people respond to trauma by denying it.

Well it had better be one hell of a trauma to make this strong character want to return to the same ship with this man she's in love with, doesn't hide it, gets picked on by her boss about it and except for a single time when he's suffering through Pon Farr and gives her some kindness, doesn't get a thing in return those feelings. Oh except that one time he puts his consciousness in her body to help Sargon. That's her reward. And I was replying that they don't need much in an explanation; there's one built in.

Strongly disagree.Sure, trauma can change people but that extent of a change....eh. It's not that built in.
Plus, as much as I hate this, we'll never see a STAR TREK series hit 100 episodes again, not with seasons having 10 episodes each in the current landscape. Can SNW really be said to be "prematurely cancelled" when they're giving a two year advance notice that it's ending? And Picard ended after three seasons of its own accord, it wasn't cancelled.
Also, we live in an era where five seasons is considered a full run with many shows voluntarily pulling the plug after five seasons. Granted, that wasn't the case with Disco or Lower Decks, both of which had hopes for a sixth season, but the modern Trek shows still shouldn't be considered failures just because they ended after five seasons.
I think they showed this in the Gorn BTS piece on the Ready Room.![]()

Blink and you'll miss it (pardon the pun!) but the Gorn are shown to have an outer horizontal eyelid ↖️↗️ and an inner, vertical, separately opening and closing eyelid ⬅️➡️↙️↘️ in #StarTrekSNW's "Hegemony II"...and that eyelid is sparkling silver, like the Gorn eyes in "Arena"!!! 😊🧵 1/3bsky.app
I think you've got the seething part down pat.Cope and seethe.
If Trek has shown that the Xindi can have 6× very different species come from the same home planet?I do not understand the bellyaching over the Gorn. After complaints about ENT’s Gorn, and knowing that the TOS Gorn is a bit dated. And short of updating the TOS Gorn with animatronics (think Shran’s movable antennae), that appearance is not coming back in live action.
