Exclusive Clip

Are people here just genuinely paid by CBS or has their brains melted out of their ears completely and they have literally zero standards whatsoever?
But you know, this is TrekBBS, the home of toxic positvity for absolute incoherent, poorly written garbage that wouldn't even pass in a fan film.
Hope you’re feeling better after this. Warning for flaming for these comments. Keep to r/startrek or whatever, but if you’re going to post here it will be with a modicum of respect for your fellow posters. Comments to PM.

human obesity
As I explained earlier in the thread, this is a fatphobic comment and as such we don’t want this here. I don’t want to see it again.

Flaming
Yeah, I will, because I have actual standards unlike you corpo pig slop slurping morons who literally gobble down anything Kurtzman will shit in your mouth and say it's great while you complain about anybody having standards or actually liking anything about Star Trek that made it Star Trek beyond a fucking IP label.
Go ahead, throw the "It's just a fantasy world" lazy argument, or how about another rant about Roddenberry was a sexist or some shit so classic Trek is bad actually.

Aaaand yet another warning for ignoring moderator instructions and again flaming posters at large. This should earn you a day off from the board, but I’ll also issue a thread ban, just to be sure. Again, keep any possible comments to PM.

Why did they even feel the need to flesh out characters that ended decades ago? Tv and even film were different back then.
Because franchises continue to grow and sometimes have to fix older content. Did we need a film about the Death Star plans since we know how it ends up?
I would have rather had an entire fresh cast of new characters where i did not know their eventual fates.
Then you will enjoy the new upcoming show Starfleet Academy set at the latest point of the timeline with blank slate characters with open fates.

A preview scene was recently released for your viewing pleasure.

We did not. That film was not additive in the most part.
It was a good film and the only SW movie I've enjoyed in a long time. I think the term need is kind of misused here.. unless Maslow's Hierarchy has some new levels added, but I do appreciate it when a francise I enjoy can add to the vibrancy using what was already there.

Why make a movie about the Girl with the Pearl Earring? Why not just make a new painting and assemble a star studded cast for Girl With The Seriously Impressive Medieval Cone Hat? We like the idea of fleshing out things we've wondered about, even mundane shit.

I would love if the film actually feels like it added to the mundane shit. Instead, it felt very much like it took away.

To be fair, the details of the world build are great. Appreciate the U WING and other ships, plus Blue Squadron!

But, as a story? No, not really.

And, yes, "need" is a very poorly used term. I have no need for Star Trek, Star Wars, or other entertainment media

I wanted Legacy in part because I like Seven and in part because I want the timeline to progress, not have yet another prequel. I would be legitimately annoyed if we got a Kirk Year One series and not Legacy or something in kind as well.

This 32nd century stuff feels like its own thing in an odd way that I can't quite parse yet.

It lacks too much of the "Star Trek" visual design connective tissue and without that it comes off as "generic sci-fi show" instead of "Star Trek".

The difference is Rogue one didn't flesh out existing characters with traits they didn't originally have.

And you know darn well I watched the clip ... 😂

Is it the same principle if they had no character traits to begin with?

Excuse you I identify as salaciously spherical.

Spock was fleshed out well in TOS. The others should never been in the show. They should have let the show ride on its own characters not try to become TOS lite. ..
