Not really. This was the start of CBSAA’s plan to have multiple Trek series running continuously all year, in order to both cater to different aspects of the fandom, and to keep interest in Trek constant for the total viewership. It had little to do with whether fans liked DSC, because that was only 1/5 of their viewing revenue.
