Exclusive Clip

Some people eat excessively when they feel stress or anxiety, I starve myself. Given my stress and anxiety levels over the last 18 months, I'm lucky I still have pants that fit.

I'm not betting any money on this and I'll bet good money that this supposed new era will be hated by the first announcement.

It may be. But at least we won't get anymore recasts or retcons. 1.5 season of Kurtzman Trek left... (yes I'm calculating by 24 ep seasons.. 😂)

... If the new movie franchise fails Trek should be dead for about 10-20. Which is fine by me... 😎

I’m surprised to say it, but the clip actually looks pretty good and makes me want to watch the show. I mean, it’s only four minutes, so it’s hard to deduce anything about the whole series from that—but still, it looks promising. I’ll give it a shot.

But then again, they already won me over with the 90210 poster. Yes. I liked it.

I'll believe it when I see it. One thing is for certain though, the people who hate the Kurtzman era will hate that 'new start' as well.
Yes, hello, me here.
I hate all these "new starts". Origin stories. Prequels. Reimaginings. Retoolings.
That's all just pretentious bullshittery.

Just tell interesting stories within the given rules-framework.

No writer wants to be bound by 60 years of lore.

It really doesn't. There's a ton of iconography.
No, there isn't.

Most of the iconography was changed.

Even if it wasn't however, visual design is about more more then iconography. It's why someone who has never seen Star Trek before can do something like look at pictures of non-Discovery Starfleet ships and instantly go "those things are from the same universe".

The Lower Decks writers absolutely did.

Don’t like recasts or retcons? This new show Starfleet Academy should be right up your alley then. ;)

Seriously though, the last rounds of marketing pushes have me more excited for the show than I originally anticipated. The fact that this will mainly be about brand new characters in a relatively new era mostly free of any baggage from previous shows give me hope that they’ll use the opportunity to create something fresh and unique. Mind you, I know this could still be a total flop, but right now the previews have me excited. What’s maybe not ideal is that the writers room looks very much like it’s staffed chiefly by veterans from Discovery and Picard. But I’ll remain cautiously optimistic that they’ll be able to make it work this time around. It’s a shame that with the Skydance/Paramount merger it very much looks like this won’t go beyond two seasons, regardless of whether it turns out to be good or bad.

Well the good thing is we won't see anymore recasts or retcons. I don't care if this new movie franchise sucks. Hopefully it will be the final nail in the coffin for Trek for a very long time..
You don't have to watch it.

Indeed it is .... 🤕
I hope you recover from this horrible franchise and you'll get your James R Kirk series instead of all the retcons we've had over the last several decades.
