Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Interesting stuff from the Kree wikipedia page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kree

"The original Kree had blue-colored skin, but a second racial group with pink skin resembling that of human Caucasians emerged over the millennia. Presently, the blue-skinned "purebred" Kree are a small, but powerful, minority. Pink Kree are much more durable than their blue racial brethren."

I guess they are retconning Korath to be a "pink" kree :)

"The Supreme Intelligence attempted to jumpstart the evolutionary process of the Kree. Through a series of events discussed below during Operation: Galactic Storm and the Destiny War, he arranged for a large number of his people to be irradiated with a Nega-Bomb (killing 90% of the Kree), and then artificially sped up their evolution by means of an artifact called the Forever Crystal.[volume & issue needed]
This new brand of evolved Kree, called Ruul, have a grayish skin tone and many shoulder-length tentacles atop their heads. Individuals possess the ability to 'will' adaptation to different environments, spontaneously developing the ability to breathe underwater, fly, or whatever their circumstances require."

Someone mentioned Skye turning grey when she was injected. Could Skye be a Ruul. If the Kree are involved, it make me think that the Clairvoyant is the Kree Supreme Intelligence.

Sorry if this was asked before but are we sure this guy is Kree. In the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer they showed Korath the Pursuer and he certainly was not blue.

Korath the Pursuer is certainly a Kree. Whether he will be called as such is an entirely different question. Mahr Vehl is also, likewise, a Kree, whether he is described as such or not.

No one has any clue who the blue guy was. Hell, I'm not sure we can be positive he was blue and it wasn't just the tinting of the glass. But the theory is that he is Mahr Vehl and there's at least some superficially plausible reasons to think so.

This is all pretty far down the rabbit hole.

I don't know if they'll jump through 5 continuity hoops for something only a couple dozen people will 'get'.

I read somewhere that someone claims that Sky briefly turned pink (if she did, then I didn't notice) which apparently suggests she may be "Namorita", a half Atlantean, half human mutant clone.

Personally I like the Carol Danvers idea better. Particularly since I don't think there's any chance of doing a female superhero movie staring anyone besides Black Widow any time soon. Still, if there was a good place to introduce Atlantis (which was easter egged in 'Incredible Hulk' IIRC) it'd be on AoS.

As far as that alien actually being Mar'vel...I don't see any reason why he couldn't be him and be dead already. I mean from what I gather he's something of a non-character in the comics who only exists to stop DC from ever publishing the original Fawcett 'Captain Marvel' character in a book actually called "Captain Marvel". Surely Carol is the more interesting character, no?

Universal owns Namor, not Fox. I'm pretty sure he's his own franchise. But, yeah, not Marvel. Whether that means all Atlanteans, though, is a different issue.

Atlanteans are probably off the table, since Fox owns the Fantastic Four franchise and thus Namor.

You are probably right, but Namor predates the Fantastic Four by 20 years, and has been both an Avenger and a Defender.

Although someone has the specific rights for Namor since I recall Dwane Johnson being attached to a Namor project a couple years ago.

I've still yet to hear even a ballpark timeframe for when Namor reverts back. It's a bit odd that it hasn't yet based on what we know of all the prior licensing arrangements for the other studios.

Last night's episode only got 5.4 million... I'm actually starting to wonder if this show is going to make it to Season Two...

Maybe random hiatuses aren't the best thing for ratings.

The numbers are still objectively good for its timeslot, but it's certainly a concern.

Regarding their decision not to use non-lethal weapons, the non-lethal weapons haven't been established as being designed for use as close-quarters assault weapons. The night-night gun has been used as a sniper weapon and pistol, but never as something which might have to hose down an enemy's position with overwhelming firepower while exposed to lethal return fire. Further, even if they'd had the right weapons and the dozens of rounds needed, as non-lethal rounds, by definition night-night gun rounds aren't armor-piercing. Going into a death box, the SHIELD team can't be faulted for refusing to handicap their chances of survival.

It's a further declaration that the SHIELD team members aren't superheroes.

No, but they could have brought both, and used lethal force only if necessary.
