Spoilers Eyes of Wakanda

I didn't vibe with the series either (the animation style wasn't my cup of tea) but it did use real history -
the subtext is that Nketi is the leader of the Sea People ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Peoples ) whilst the Battle of Adwa is used as the setting for Episode 4 ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Adwa )
Ahhh! Thank you for those insights. I also love the connections to real history, especially since I'm largely ignorant of non-Egyptian African history. I don't think I've even heard of Sea Peoples, so I especially appreciate you connecting Nketi to them (I did wonder what the allusion was suppose to be there).

I am so confused
It's best to not think to much about Guy's posts, and just go with it. It took me a while to figure them out.

As for the show, I enjoyed it over all. It had great art, with good characters, and some really good stories. My big issue with the show was the way it presented Wakanda, one of the things I was most looking forward to was getting to see the evolution of Wakanda over the centuries, but there was no evolution, which just seems odd to me. There was pretty much no difference between Wakanda thousands of years ago and Wakanda today, and I find that a very odd choice. I find it hard to believe they really been as advanced as they were presented so long ago, even with them being more advanced than the rest of the world, I would still have expected to take more time to get to where they are today. They even had the Dora Milaje wearing the exact same uniforms and carrying the exact same spears, and I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have made some kind of changes in the centuries between the first episode of the series and the first movies. And from a creative standpoint, it makes it kind of boring, since it means everything will pretty much always be exactly the same whenever we see Wakanda.
