Worst 100 Trek stories according to IMDb users

And the season's story could easily have been told in 5 episodes... 6 at most.

DISCO really should have followed ENT season 4's format... two and three parters throughout, with a few solo episodes peppered in. Basically, long enough to tell the story but not not so long that it drags out and overstays its welcome.
I thought Disco actually did a decent job with pacing in the first season by breaking into three sub-arcs. That helped prevent the narrative drag every subsequent season fell victim to, with season 4 succumbing the hardest to it.

As others have said, season 4 had the best concept, but there just wasn’t enough story to last over 13 episodes. If the 10-C arc had covered the back half of the year with standalone stories or two-parters in the first half, season 4 could’ve been one of the best in the franchise.

I've simply heard enough about it to have no interest in experiencing it for myself. I'm not that kind of masochist, and, unlike TATV, for instance, there's no pressure to see it for the sake of being a completionist (actually, there are still ENT episodes I've never seen).

Right now in April 2026 these are the lowest rated Star Trek stories according to the thousands who vote on IMDb. (I've left out very Short Treks and Scouts because a lot of the stories have literally zero ratings and I don't feel like that's a large enough sample size).

I'm curious, if you could rescue any of these stories from the bottom 100 which ones would they be, and what would you put in their place? Personally, I'd save Disco's Whistlespeak, Labyrinths and Erigah (and a bunch more), SFA's Vox in Excelso, and TNG's Manhunt.

And I'd sacrifice Enterprise's Two Days and Two Nights, TAS's Counter-Clock Incident, and SNW's Wedding Bell Blues. (You can pick anything on IMDb with a rating higher than 6.3).

Interesting list! Thanks for sharing it.

Overall, this is a fair selection (with the expected amount of entries that I would greatly disagree with), and it puts the general (un)popularity of episodes from different series into perspective. Funny though that the biggest complaint, thus, is the mere existence of a clip show. I wonder how IMDb users thus feel about e.g. FRIENDS and their having a clip show once every season or so. We Trekkies got only one in 60 years and almost a thousand episodes.

They don't love them!

A lot of the DISCO stuff on that list does not deserve to be there.

Some stuff on that list were flat out excellent, or at least good.

1) SFA: The Life of the Stars
2) DISCO: Coming Home
3) DISCO: Rosetta
4) DISCO: But To Connect
--------------
5) SFA: Series Acclimation Mill
6) DISCO: Whistlespeak
7) DISCO: Life, Itself
8) SNW: What Is Starfleet?
9) DISCO: Anomaly
10) DISCO: All Is Possible

My memory on the TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY stuff is hazy.

Only 2 ENT eps? Come on.

There's 3 episodes of ENT on the list: "EXTINCTION", "DAEDALUS", and "THESE ARE THE VOYAGES...".

And of the episodes you listed, the only one I can agree was pretty good was "What Is Starfleet?", and maybe "Coming Home"... but only because, compared to other DISCO episodes, it actually is better than other DISCO episodes. Which is an extremely low bar to clear.

I love "The Elysian Kingdom", I will never understand the Internet's hate of that episode.
I think sometimes for episode like this people see the idea "Pike and Crew enter into a fairly Tale" and dismiss it as bad just on the idea

Spock's Brain is alway a hard one because it is "Fun Bad" it bad but very very enjoyable

The fact that it's all happening as a final gift, of sorts, from a daughter to her father makes it incredibly beautiful to me, though.

But I guess that's not really the IMDb userbase at the end of the day.

Absolutely bizarre to see only three Enterprise episodes on that list. I have no idea who rates episodes on IMDB, though. I've never done it. Is it something anyone here has ever done? Or is it a hobby for the haters?

I've had an IMDB account for roughly as long as it's been around and I've never rated anything, so I would imagine it's the "highly motivated" people who do that. It's probably kind of worthless as any sort of actual metric.

Plus, it's incredibly heartbreaking and uplifting, at the same time, that M'Benga gets to see his dying daughter not only live, but thrive in a way that makes her part of the universe itself and effectively immortal... though he'll never be able to hug her or see her again. And Rukiya naming her new friend after her mother...

I mean, this tugs at all the heartstrings. This made me shed multiple single man tears each time I watched it.

It really is beautiful, and it still baffles me why this episode gets the hate it does.

I may vehemently disagree with you on Discovery but I stand with you in solidarity on this one. An episode that balances beauty and fun masterfully.

People who like rating things I guess, fans and hater both. Though if we pick 6.0 as an arbitrary point where everything above is watchable and everything below is bad, then half of this list makes it to the 'watchable' category. So Star Trek's actually doing pretty well there.

Here's how the IMDb ratings for the Kurtzman era compare to Trek BBS's votes (adjusted slightly to overlap them because Trek BBS has a higher average).

You're not going to get the objective worth of an episode from the site, because there's no such thing, but it's useful to get an sense of what people are feeling about it. Especially combined with data from other sources.

Yeah, great. I don't care what other people think about the shows. Either I like the episodes or I don't, and I don't have a huge urge to transmit my opinions of them either. I suppose other people do, but it's really, really not going to sway my opinion one way or the other.

Except for "And the Children Shall Lead". That needs to be flushed down the nearest toilet and erased from history.
