Worst 100 Trek stories according to IMDb users

The main two ways I care are in terms of "Who am I generally on the same page with and who am I not?" and "How much of a case am I going to have to put up to defend something I like that everyone else around doesn't?" It's more about sizing up the situation online than anything else.

When I'm watching on TV or wherever, I like what I like and will stop watching whatever I don't. With something I stop watching, if it improves, I know I'll hear about it from people whose opinions I trust.

Yeah, great. I don't care what other people think about the shows. Either I like the episodes or I don't, and I don't have a huge urge to transmit my opinions of them either. I suppose other people do, but it's really, really not going to sway my opinion one way or the other.
You've stumbled into the wrong thread then! :p

I don't think anyone should change their opinions to match reviews though, that's getting it backwards. Plus what do you even do when an episode gets all 10s and 1s and ends up with an average score of 5? Flip a coin to see if you love or hate it?

Though on the other hand, if an episode you hate is getting very high scores, something like The Inner Light, City on the Edge of Forever, The Visitor etc., then it could be worth giving it a second chance.

Yeah, not particularly. Opinions are like assholes, after all.

I thought ENT Daedalus wasn't that bad.
My wife really likes that one.

I think the story is good, and it does have a creepy element to it with Quinn appearing in that state on the ship. But it ultimately fell rather flat and kind of boring. It has been some years since I rewatched it, and I'll eventually get back to rewatching it, so my opinion may change.

It's amazing how every Star Trek fan can band together in our absolute hatred for Section 31.
For me thats easily the worst one and its not even close. Everyone involved should never be allowed to work on the franchise again.

My top five would round up to

#2 SFA : SAM
#3 TNG: Shades Of Gray
#4 TOS: Spocks Brain
#5 ENT: A Night In Sickbay

Absurdly weighted against the new series. The likes of Precious Cargo, Valiant and Rascals don't even make the list, but I'd take every episode of modern Trek over them.

Lowest rated but what were the numbers behind those votes? A lot more people watched TNG and it's had more years to accumilate votes compared to Disco so of course it's going to get more attention. If the same number of people who watched TNG watched DISCO then I'm sure there would be more DISCO episodes on the list.

This is based on the ratings on the site, not people sending in their bottom ten lists, so higher votes should theoretically mean more accuracy, as regular people increasingly outnumber the superfans and haters.

But if you're curious, here's the average number of votes per episode:

Original Series - 3,996
Animated Series - 907
Next Generation - 3,892
Deep Space Nine - 2,515
Voyager - 2,262
Enterprise - 2,252
Discovery - 2,703
Short Trek - 726
Picard - 3,850
Strange New Worlds - 4,712
Starfleet Academy - 4,552
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - 67,926
Section 31 - 18,784

Those numbers are interesting. Didn't expect Academy and SNW to have so many votes.

I think the reason that Academy and SNW have more ratings is just because their unliked episodes came earlier in their run. A lot of Discovery's episodes are from seasons 4 and 5, when it'd lost a lot of its audience, while Academy's are all from season 1.

And 90s Trek has such low numbers because it aired before IMDb was a thing. Most ratings seem to come from around the day an episode comes out.
