Right now in April 2026 these are the lowest rated Star Trek stories according to the thousands who vote on IMDb. (I've left out very Short Treks and Scouts because a lot of the stories have literally zero ratings and I don't feel like that's a large enough sample size).

I'm curious, if you could rescue any of these stories from the bottom 100 which ones would they be, and what would you put in their place? Personally, I'd save Disco's Whistlespeak, Labyrinths and Erigah (and a bunch more), SFA's Vox in Excelso, and TNG's Manhunt.

And I'd sacrifice Enterprise's Two Days and Two Nights, TAS's Counter-Clock Incident, and SNW's Wedding Bell Blues. (You can pick anything on IMDb with a rating higher than 6.3).

Huh. I find it very interesting that the only series not on this list is Lower Decks!

As for what I'd save... I honestly have no idea. Not exactly what you're looking for, but I'd like to save ENT "These Are The Voyages..." since it's the series finale, but only if some changes to the episode are made. And I'd sacrifice "The Inner Light".

I save The Final Frontier and The Jihad and sacrifice Miri and How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth. Man, looking at SNW's two entries... IMDB hates a concept episode...

This is interesting, I use serializd, which is a smaller sort of IMDB for the Letterboxd-like crowd and the lowest rated episodes are probably 70% the same and 30% different.

S31 "only" being second to last is purely because that piece of shit doesn't deserve to be on top of any type of list, whatsoever.

IMDB really had it in for DSC S4.

Out of the DS9 and VOY episodes I've reviewed so far (I've covered everything up through when FC was released), I only agree with IMDB about "Fascination", "Let He Who Is Without Sin", and "Threshold". Everything after FC? I'll decide when I get to them.

I'd add "Elogium", "Parturition", and "False Profits" (how is that not on there?!) to the list for VOY. Then take off everything I don't agree with.

And the season's story could easily have been told in 5 episodes... 6 at most.

DISCO really should have followed ENT season 4's format... two and three parters throughout, with a few solo episodes peppered in. Basically, long enough to tell the story but not not so long that it drags out and overstays its welcome.

I feel like 10-C are one of the best additions to all of new Star Trek, mainly because they aren't evil and are just doing what type-II or type-III civilisations do.

I certainly don't hate season four, but apart from pacing, its the repetitive emotional subplots and the depressive post-Burn Galaxy which let it down for me. However, it could've been a really good Discovery movie.

That would mean 12 episodes for Season 4 of DSC and eight episodes spread across four other seasons, or an average of only two episodes per season for every other season of Discovery compared to 12 for Season 4. That's particularly odd. Six times as many bottom episodes for S4? You'd think it would be more proportionate across the entire series.

There's a certain level of complaining that goes with Discovery, but I don't recall there being six times as much complaining about Season 4 as there was for other seasons. So, there had to be something going on there with the IMDB.

Similar to Starfleet Academy where I think there was at least some degree of foul play. Ultimately, I didn't connect with SFA, but not to the point where I'd be like "I give the entire series a 1!"

Do I think DSC S4 could've been told in less than 13 episodes? Sure. But I think the reaction was over-the-top. Although the people most likely to rate it are the ones who feel the most strongly about it, one way or the other.

Funny thing: "Unification III", my least favorite episode of Discovery, isn't on their list. Go figure!

I'll credit DISCO season 4 for being the one with a season finale that actually stuck the landing. And the setup in the first episode was decent, too. (And "Species Ten-C" was pretty good.)

But the rest? So very much of it was needless, bloated, and unnecessary.

It kept me more engaged than PIC S03 did.
