Are you "aging out" of Star Trek?

I grew up on Star Trek, TOS as a youngster, TNG as a younger adult, then DS9, VOY... later I even watched ENT... but I'm not into cartoons, Discovery was painful and I dropped it after the first few episodes. I watched the first season of SNW but loved all three seasons of Picard. But now as a senior citizen, I'm finding I just can not seem to bite on the new stuff. Am I the only one who has issues with the new stuff or just a basic, meh?

I have issues with this current "era" as well. It has nothing to do with aging out. I just refuse to consume everything that has the Star Trek label slapped on it like a good little obedient fanboy.

Create something on the level of TOS, TNG, or DS9 and Ill praise it. Create decent stuff like SNW or Picard S3 and Ill still enjoy it. Make idiotic or embarassing garbage like Section 31 or SFA and Ill call it for what it is. Crap.

Im still a fan. Im just not a blind one.

You know how folks have been complaining about how bad fast-food has become compared to what it used to be? We know what good Trek is like. Trek wouldn't have become the part of our culture it has if it was bad. Sometimes 'bad' does do that, like LIS, but not usually, and certainly not to the extent Trek has.

Don't serve us a yuckburger and expect praise because it says STAR TREK on the bag. Sometimes, it's like whomever made the burger didn't have a clue how to make it or what customers expect. Or no quality control was done.

I don't think anyone is saying it's not bad.


It's just that Trek has been bad before and for a long time, just spread out. So my expectations for bad Trek are just that it is par for the course.
