or was star trek discovery season 3 to season 5 in a way a prequel in the new time frame aka way more into the future before starfleet academy
What are you saying here? Disco's third to fifth seasons are clearly not a prequel to SFA since Disco came first, and a prequel by definition is released after the production it is a prequel to. And no, those Disco seasons do not take place after the events of SFA for quite a few obvious reasons, among them the fact that the Federation was still reeling from the Burn in S3 and Earth was not a Federation member in S3, while in SFA Earth is once again part of the Federation and the Federation has recovered from the Burn. Plus, you know, there's the fact Reno is in SFA and that Discovery itself was mentioned in the first episode.

But those don't erase existing timelines or pretend they never existed. The Kelvin Timeline is acknowledged as being an alternate reality running parallel to the Prime one.
And the writers/directors/executives saying Discovery's time travel split the timeline wouldn't erase Discovery's future either.

Don't hold your breath they're going to do that.
If they don't there's going to be more and more plot holes developing around the events of the Burn and it's aftermath as writers in the 23rd, 24th, and 25th centuries introduce new ideas and concepts that would completely change how that should have worked.

Even just with what we've gotten so far there's Prodigy's Protowarp, Lower Deck's Dimensional Portal, and Strange New Worlds specifically non-dilithium warp drives to contend with.

So, you're saying it's Star Trek?

2285: "We have a torpedo that can create entire life-supporting planets! We've solved most of the problems of colonization!"

2375: "Oh, yeah, about a century ago there was a torpedo that could create a planet. Hmmmm. Anyways...."

Trek always does the big thing that is either forgotten or sidelined by the next big thing.
