its at least 30 years apart

i wonder if starfleet academy will kick off a new timeline in the star trek tv series legacy

as in will there be spinoffs and sequels based in the timeline after starfleet academy since it is based over thousands years

I think he means timeline as in the time in which it's set.

This might be what they were first hoping with Discovery moving to the far future; their own new era to write in. Not sure how much is going to come of it though. I'd be amazed if the next group in charge of Star Trek don't just go to the 23rd century again, but we'll see.

Theoretically it could be the first Trek series to show us the 33rd century, assuming any episodes are set in 3201 or afterwards.

I wonder; a full reboot likely wouldn't work out but a TNG style "this is nominally the same universe, but not really, and we're going to establish our own characters and tone without being bound by existing continuity" approach could be the way forward (you could argue Discovery attempted this, but I think for many people, it was too much of a tonal departure and also just not especially good on its own merits).

The post-Burn setting actually provides a solid opportunity for this but they still seem locked on tying absolutely everything back to TOS - ENT.

I thought much of S3 DISCO was actually quite good ....until we got to the end, anyway.

as in the 1st show of this new timeline is starfleet academy then spinoffs and sequels will be about star trek shows based during and or after starfleet academy
