eh, Picard Seasons 2 and 3 were filmed back to back (even closer than SNW 4 and5) but 3 still aired almost a year apart. This makes me think even more that they’re going to show seasons 4 & 5 back-to-back.

They'll want to spread them out to maximize sub time
Agree 100%.I feel like people forget that the "lesser" episodes in a 26-season are often doing good work too; they're letting you spend time with characters you like, in a world you enjoy. They're absolutely crucial to the texture of the work as a whole.
There's an artistry to long-running episodic TV which people are way too quick to dismiss nowadays.
This makes me think even more that they’re going to show seasons 4 & 5 back-to-back.
Calling it now, the series is going to end with Kirk doing the opening narration.
And as much as "TATV...(ENT)" pained me, the closing shots of the three hero ship Enterprises as first Picard then Kirk and Archer recite the opening narration are fantastic, and I could see SNW's final episode doing its own take on that to pass the torch.
26 is too much these days.
The "present day" of TATV took place during the events of The Pegasus in TNG S7, meaning the Enterprise E didn't exist yet. As it is, I'm pretty sure the main reason they included the original Enterprise in that montage was because they already had a CG mesh of an original Constitution from the MU two-parter a few episodes earlier. After going through the effort of creating an HD CG mesh of the Galaxy class which they knew they wouldn't use again, they weren't going to create ones of a movie refit Constitution or an Excelsior just for a brief montage. But they forgot the Enterprise-E! Not to mention the Enterprise-A and B!
Even in the 90s the Star Treks were the only shows doing 26 episodes a season, most other shows did 22-24. And besides, in recent years, even US Network shows are only doing a maximum of18-20 episodes a season, with many shows doing less than that. The days of longer seasons are over, and to be honest, I'm okay with that. Twenty-plus episodes are an absolute slog to get through on rewatches, even on good shows.lol the old days of tv shows
Frankly, 26 was too much even back then.26 is too much these days.
I was actually referring to the workload for the cast and crew, but this too.26 wa fine for me when I was young and didn’t have responsibilities
As an adult, no thanks
I doubt that. They might not have as long a break in between, but I can't see them airing them back to back like one whole season. Might as well just make a 16 episode season 4 then.
Skydance could easily be rushing the show out the door because it was a product of the former regime, and to coincide with Kurtzman's contract ending in 2026 if they have no plans to keep him on, then it would make sense to end it as soon as they can to make way for whatever they have planned for 2027.
Either way, we'll know in about 6 months what's happening. Sooner, if they mention anything about it during the Star Trek Cruise in February which I will be attending.
To make it up to you we will petition the finale of Academy to introduce us to the Enterprise-V and have a narration by its captain and those of all preceeding 1701 dashes including the dash-nothing and the NX-01But they forgot the Enterprise-E! Not to mention the Enterprise-A and B!
