Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

ENT had only 24 in Season 3 and just 22 in its final season. Even by 2003-05 the per-season episode numbers had shrunken.

IIRC, Sopranos broke the mold with seasonal runs, shortening the number of episodes down into 10 to the low-teens, with long stretches of hiatus between seasons. NuBSG moved the goalposts again by splitting the short seasons into half-seasons, which I think was due to writers/actors guild strikes that were going on at the time. I could be mis-remembering but it feels like those two shows really changed how TV seasons were produced and distributed.

At first, it was actually SyFy making weird scheduling decisions, as, IIRC, they even at one point had the midseason hiatus between Stargates SG-1 and Atlantis longer than the hiatus between the seasons themselves. These scheduling games hurt the ratings for the Stargates and BSG. However, with BSG, they ended up having to do this anyway due to the strike you mentioned throwing a wrench into production.

The Stargates were spared impact from that strike, as SG-1 ended just before it happened and Atlantis could continue as most of its writing staff were actually with Canadian writing guilds.

I do find it interesting that they put the character's name on the trailer door, not the actor.

Though I guess it would be useful if there's multiple actors with the same name on a production, but how common would that be?

Always wondered if actors sharing a name with a character ( but not their character) ever caused confusion. In TOS we had James Doohan and James Kirk. Also Leonard Nimoy and Leonard McCoy. TNG gave is Wil Wheaton and Will Riker. ENT had John Billingsley and Jon Archer. SNW has the nearly the same Christina Chong, Christopher Pike and Christine Chapel.
