They're not entirely different production teams with respect to the visual effects.
It is when it comes to the artists who create the designs to give to the VFX teams.
And the people who give the instructions to those artists.

One thing I really liked about SNW was how most every episode opened with a log entry.
Episode 1: Was Una's First Contact Speech.
Ep 2: Uhura's cadet log. Comet ep.
Ep 3: Una's Log. Illyria ep.

Ep 5: Spock log. Spock Amok.
Ep 6: Captain's log. Suffering ep.
Ep. 7: T'Pring log. Squall Ep.
Ep. 8: M'Benga log. Kingdom ep.
Ep. 9: Uhura log#2. Gorn#2 ep.
Ep. 10: Captain's log #2. IIRC?
Hemmer, Ortegas, & Chapel were the only ones who did not get one. Too late for Hemmer, sadly. But Ortegas getting one early is cool. I'd bet good money Chapel gets one this season, too.
Yep! It opens with Pike's log entry as the Enterprise arrives at Outpost 4 along the Neutral Zone and talks about the visit being of vital interest to all involved.
