Given that TOS Klingons are low-key racist, that's probably a good thing.

Darker hair would have helped. The wig and beard read more blond than gray.

The Klingons who beam aboard Enterprise to plant the computer virus look far more like TOS Klingons but Antaak is plenty convincing. Cut his hair very short and put him in a TOS or even SNW Klingon uniform and he'd be believable for the 2259-2269 timeframe.

They could easily make TOS Klingons without them looking like racist Asian stereotypes. I mean, other than the swarthy makeup, they looked completely human. It's more about what kind of outfit to put them in to give off a Klingon vibe.

Trouble with Tribbles Klingons didn't do the dark makeup at all, and they read as Klingon just fine

You're right. Thanks for correcting me. I got the episode name wrong. Krell is the one who supplies weapons to the enemies of Tyree's people.

Krell had pretty fantastic Klingon makeup for TOS.
