Strange New Worlds Season 2 Trailer

Awkward for Kirk who boned Laan Noonian Singh a few years earlier.

However, in his defense... if this character is Shatner's Kirk, he probably lost track of all the women he had relations with during those years.

Makes me wonder why the SNW team really wanted a Khan relative with such a similar name on the main cast. Strange choice. At the very least they could have come up with a less obvious name for her, but I suspect they wanted the name recognition to draw in the casuals.

To La'an Noonian Singh, you've got a very unique last name. Do you have any relation to Khan Noonian Singh?

So Khan Noonian Singh is pretty well-known. Awkward for Spock and Kirk in Space Seed, given their intimate connections to La'an.

Perhaps it conveniently gets classified again, like Disco S2.

You're reaching for problems where none exist.

It just makes Space Seed amusing (and awkward).

Perhaps they'll classify La'an Noonian Singh like Discovery Season 2. No one shall mention her again, or face the penalty of death  Canon saved.

Khan Noonan Singh was well known in TOS S1 Space Seed. Spock had his picture up on the Conference Room screen practically in the next scene after Kirk talking to him in Sickbay and him saying his name was: ...Khan, just Khan...

And in that scene all 3 others in the conference room besides Spock (Kirk, McCoy and Scotty) began to recount the history they had learned of him; with Scotty saying he had a small admiration for him.

Yes, no one immediately recognized him on first sight, but I don't see what's so strange about that. He's a figure of history from (depending on which dating scheme you go by in Trek) either 200 or 300 years past.

And if you're going to bring up the La'an Noonian Singh connection, please provide a screen cap that shows that she's carrying around a picture of him. She doesn't like being related to him.

If you want to go after the Trope of Kurt giving access to essential ship information to an enemy leading to disaster, go ahead. It's right up there with the Trope of Kirk consistently out talking a deadly AI entity into destroying itself.

They all know who and what Khan Noonan Singh did historically 200/300 years ago. But no they didn't recognize him immediately on sight.

Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scott all knew a lot about Khan as an historical figure. It's actually right there in the episode. They talk about him.

Where the dumb notion that they didn't know who Khan was comes from is unclear. My guess is because the characters are slow to connect their guest with him. Well, that's a script problem, isn't it? The writer suspense out of nothing.

Canon saved.

Who cares?

Why? She doesn't even like Great Great Great Great Grandpa. If anything he might even be a little prejudiced against ol'Khan.

Tell me you don't know TOS Kirk with out telling me you don't know TOS Kirk.
Kirk falls in love hard and takes losing at love hard He not the type who's on the prowl.

Just wait. Kirk and Khanie are indeed hooking up this season.
If it happens I hope it's more in line with the Kirk from TOS, not horndog Kirk from the K-Verse and popular culture.

My headcanon has decided it was the name "Khan" that prompted Spock to do a deep dive into who this superman was because of Spock's past with La'an.

It's quite an amusing coincidence that Khan's descendant, who has the same last name as him and a very similar first.. was serving on the Enterprise just a few years prior to Space Seed, and was intimate with Kirk. Well perhaps the later is not much of a coincidence given Kirk's track.

However, that's just the tip of the iceberg with trying to get Nu Trek to fit with TOS... square peg, round hole.

If they do something interesting with the character and the Khan connection, it will make it worthwhile.

Cynically though, I suspect she was just named 'La'an Noonian Singh' so the average casual viewer would recognize the name. Similar reasons to why Uhura and Kirk were brought on board. Brand recognition.

It's really not, unless you're easily amused by trivia.
Brand recognition.

Ah, yes - the only reason Picard was ever made at all.

First time viewing/reading entertainment? Now that's amusing.

Irony?
