Strange New Worlds Season 2 Trailer

Yeah, not sold on seeing Kirk again. That was the biggest letdown of the trailer. We don't need Paul Wesley back right now. At all.

But...we knew that he filmed content for Season 2 so here we are. Make the most of it I suppose. Looks like a time travel or alternate reality incident.

If people could fall all over themselves adoring the utter nostalgia trip that was Picard Season 3/TNG Season 8, then people can fucking deal with seeing James Kirk on this show.

We didn't need the garbage nostalgia trip of Picard. This show at least tries to do something new with what they have. When this show pulls something as narratively bankrupt as resurrecting Data, then people can complain about how we didn't "need" to see Wesley again.

Until then, lol to the complaints.

People who want to see Jim Carrey will see Jim Carrey. It's a personal issue, not a fact.
.

I have nothing personal against Wesley, and I hope that after seeing more of him, I can see him as the character of Kirk. his resemblance to Jim Carrey is not a "Personal Issue" if that were the case, then a number of people have the same personal issue.

What is a Fact is that a number of people see "Resemblance" and it's not a Resemblance I was looking for, I was certainly NOT wanting to see Jim Carrey! but, Damn.

There is something unsettlingly "Evocative" of Jim Carrey, I wish I didn't see it, but it's the first thing that came to mind, obviously he's not actually over the top goofy Jim Carey.

setting that aside, if people are unable to give him a chance because they can't get "Jim Carrey" out of their mind, then that is a "Personal Issue"

I have no issue with Kirk.

I have no issue with them organically splicing in other characters and/or elements of TOS either. I personally would love a Mount v. Wilson episode.

However, if they decided to pack-in as many references to TOS as they possibly can and cook a whole pot of contrivance linguine, so they can have Pike run into the Cardies during the run-up to the occupation, me and this show are done too.

*I don't actually think they're going to do that.

I don't think people have an issue with Kirk being around. I think the issue is with the actor playing him. He's no more believable as Kirk than Cumberbach was playing Khan. It's just bad casting. If different actors in Picard were doing a bad job playing Data, Worf or Riker then maybe your rant would make some sort of sense.

Overall I enjoyed the trailer with the exception of the Wesley Kirk reappearing

He's a fine character to have around but he can't act. Or if he can, just not this role. I don't understand how he got the part. Being skinny is fine, as is not looking like Shatner. New Uhura looks completely different but she still has her essence. There is none of that in Wesley Kirk. No, I don't believe it's because of the time crystal timeline that he was so different. Pine Kirk was a AU and he still felt like Kirk.

"Ready for warp, Sir."

Just have a huge happy feeling and smile on my face whenever I watch this trailer.

It looks like a wonderful and fun mix of adventures with many worlds and some of my absolute favorite characters.
Is it June 15th 2023 yet?!

Fingers crossed the engineer lady is a fun character addition and Kirk isn't the distraction to the series overall.

I appreciate them trying to have some continuity flow with Discovery Klingons while accepting and conceding that maaaaybe the Discovery Klingon makeup was a bridge too far (at least for me).

I'm fine with it, still seems Klingonese
