So...... Star Trek. It feels like Star Trek.

Feel like nu-trek. Post Deep Space 9/ Next Gen Trek.


S3 of Picard truly feels classic at least IMO. It felt like a completely different show from s1 of Picard or any of the recent Trek shows like Discovery or SNW s1. I can't speak to s2 as I skipped it but I thought the show was gonna be more of s1 so I need to go check out the season of Q. My dad said he liked it and he hated s1 of Picard so I may very well enjoy it.

The ironic thing about DIS S1 Klingons - both the make-up, the ships & production design - always was that it was so uniquely distinct - if it were NEW aliens, they'd INSTANTLY would have become fan favourites!...

Yeah, no they wouldn't. They'd become like Voyager's Kazon. (Yeah they really made a lot of use of those aliens after their first appearance in Voyager, haven't they?), and fans would immediately be asking: "Hey if this is the 23rd century, where are the Klingons?" (And I'm sure you'd see a discussion as to whether they would have used human looking Klingons if they had included them given your scenario that they just bring in the Discovery version as new aliens.)

There are many things about DSC I haven't liked but I've tried to go out of my way to say legimitately good things about it in the runup to the PIC finale. Because there are, especially in the past two seasons.

At the end of the day it's all Trek and it's all canon Trek and some series and movies motivate me in a happy direction more than others so I don't need to spend paragraphs of text saying how the entire Kurtzman Era is a misfire or a specific show is a tire fire.

I'm still confused as to why its so important to fans? Why the audience can't enjoy a show unless it is constantly winking at them about what came before. It is seriously to the point that "canon" seems more important than storytelling.

See, the thing is, none us of really knows what is going on in their heads, except them. They could've had fun, they could've been miserable or a whole heaping of mixed up. Publicly, they will say what they need to say to promote the show.
