Strange New Worlds Season 2 Trailer

Well, BEY and 2009 are different movies but the original 2008 teaser for the first Abrams film was and still is beautiful. The movie was also fantastic. BEY had a horrible ad campaign but that film turned out to be far better than the commercials and the trailer.

Hey just my opinion. S3 Picard feels like classic Trek whereas that Trailer with that music feels very Star Trek Discovery era at least for me. Hopefully it's just the trailer and not the season but I really didn't enjoy s1 of this series so maybe its just not for me. But like I said I'm coming Hot off of s3 Picard which has blown all my expectations regarding current Trek to hell.

I don't understand how someone can say that Picard feels like classic Trek... I mean, love it or hate it, but Picard is very much in the same format as Discovery.

Strange New Worlds, to me atleast, feels far more like "classic Trek". Now granted, the trailer is very much a "modern trailer". But the series itself is about as classic as you can get.

It's a trailer. Trailers are always awful.

I put about as much stock in to it as my dog's ability to do calculus.

The criticism is allowed but it doesn't come across as very valid. It's accusing the show of attempting "brilliant comedic writing" when we have no idea the intent of the scene, besides some awkwardness, and a mild comedy moment. Shooting for brilliance seems a bit...odd.
Bro I'm not accusing the show of anything. I'm reacting to what is there to react to...... the trailer. You're allowed to take the wait and see approach. I'm allowed to have feelings based upon the trailer...in the trailer thread. I'm only reacting to said trailer. When the show is out if it's great and the trailer was just bad, I'll have no problem admitting as much. Buy IMHO, this trailer doesn't scream Trek to me. It's feels like a modern Kurtzman product but we are basing this solely on a trailer and then whatever take aways we have from. Wasn't attempting to offend you so please, indulge in whatever way you please.

S3 of Picard feels like a completely different show IMO compared to s1. But I can't speak to s2 as I didn't watch it. I didn't like how earth centered it appeared and how prevalent the Q stuff was. Perhaps I'll go back and give it a shot. Buy s3 was literally the Next Gen sequel I always wanted.

With due respect, sir, you said "brilliant comedic writing." As a sarcastic comment, but that's how it came across.

Which is why trailers suck so bad. There hasn't been a trailer in the last 20 years that I can think of that goes "Oh, yup, that's Trek alright." I have no interest in the manipulations of trailers. So if something doesn't "feel right" then that's a trailer doing what it always does.

Trailers are manipulative by definition. I watch them fine; I put no stock in them.
I'm 32. I can agree that trailers are manipulative in that they are made to convey specifics to an audience about a specific product. I hope this trailer isn't indicative of s2 of Strange New Worlds. I disagree that all trailers suck but I'm been watching trailers since dial up was a think and Apple trailers were my go to in a pre youtube world. I love trailers. Especially one's that make me wanna see the product!

I loved the trek 09 trailers. But just my 2 cents. I'm not a fan of Into Darkness but Beyond wasn't bad. But I agree in the sense that modern trek trailers are mostly terrible. But I also think much of Discovery and modern trek content has been terrible. So we agree on certain things look at that!

I'm 38 (since that apparently matters). I've watched trailers since going to the movies with my dad and ended up watching Chronicles of Riddick because of seeing a trailer. They do a job; that job is to manipulate the audience to watch their product. When I was 12 or 13 or even 18 that was fine. I no longer find that acceptable.

Mileage will vary.

Doubtful.

Discovery is my 3rd favorite Trek series at the moment.

Into Darkness and Beyond are among my favorite Trek films, ahead of all the TNG ones.

The trailers were not what interested me. The characters were.

So it goes.

This is still my favorite Trek movie teaser of the century and probably the best one since TUC (which, let's be honest, no other Trek film teaser can match).

I remember fans trashing that trailer for the ship being built on ground rather in orbit. But I liked that trailer to.

The trailer for Star Trek Beyond was so bad it was probably rejected as an idea for a humiliating stunt in a Jackass movie. But that Trek film was surprisingly good and a lot of fun.
with what little marketing that movie got (they even had a Rhianna song written by Sia and somehow buried it) , that awful trailer had to hurt it even worse.

I agree. And some of those trailers do an awful job of that. Some of those trailers do a great job of making you wanna see the film or show. It's subjective so it's okay that you like this trailer and I don't. We will both survive this difference I can assure you.

Is hanging off of Mattalas's nuts supposed to be a graceful "cirque du solei" thing or is it more like a drowning man holding onto a thrown rope? I hear if you curse Kurtzman, it makes you more bouyant, but I don't keep up to date with the youtube knowitalls.

OFF ROAD MOTORBIKE KIRK IS COOL, ISN'T HE?

Not really.
